National Volunteer Week....A great big 'thank you' to our amazing volunteers at U3A Beachmere. Yesterday we celebrated these incredible people with a morning tea, a chat and laughter. They are the backbone of U3A Beachmere and what keeps us going.

Volunteers don’t just give up their time; they donate their energy, passion, and unique talents to a cause they believe in. They choose to show up when they could easily choose to stay home. When we thank volunteers, we aren’t just acknowledging tasks completed—we are celebrating their choice to care and the incredible people they are.

Celebrating National Volunteer Week!
Have you ever thought about volunteering in your community but uncertain what to do? Perhaps you haven’t volunteered before and feeling a little nervous.

Did you know you may have already informally volunteered but haven’t been aware you have. Helping your neighbour with home repairs or lifting something out of their car or babysitting for a family member are examples of informal volunteering. Formal volunteering usually takes place through a charity or a community organisation.

Volunteering can help you build your relationships in your community. It can also have positive impacts on your wellbeing – improve your mood and increase your sense of satisfaction or happiness.

Some people volunteer to fill in time, connect with other people, learn new things and give back to their community.

U3A Beachmere volunteers are our backbone and do all the jobs that help to make it the great organisation it is. From committee members, office staff and course leaders, each person gives their time, skills and support to make it work.
If you would are considering volunteering and you think U3A Beachmere is a good fit for you, you are very welcome to give us a call on 0456 685 736 or email [email protected]

It's National Volunteer Week and a time to honour the contribution volunteers bring to our community and to our nation.
This year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer, encourages people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.
So remember to say 'Thank You' this week to a volunteer you know.
They may be your neighbour, your friend, the footy coach, the committee members or leaders at your social group.
Happy Volunteers Week!
