Another awesome afternoon at Cedric Park, Gracemere for our Drop In program! ☀️

Set up between the waterpark and skate park, we served up a free feed for the community and spent time connecting with local families and young people.

We wrapped up with a lively game of touch footy on the oval — heaps of energy, laughs, and good times all round! 🏉🌭

Some highlights from PCYC Rockhamptons Drop In Social Sports and After Dark Boxing program 💥

Young people jumped into high‑energy games and smashed out some solid pad‑work — awesome to see everyone staying active, building skills, and having fun together.

Love the energy this crew brings every week 🥊

PCYC Rockhampton recently facilitated a fantastic community engagement event at Berserker State School’s Under 8’s Day!
Students had a great time exploring the police car, chatting with officers, and participating in colouring activities and resource giveaways. Their excitement and energy made the day truly memorable.

A special thank you to Rockhampton QPS School Support Officer, Sammy Scott, for the valued support.

Road Safety week 2026 - Braking the Cycle Rockhampton proudly partnered with RYDA during Road Safety Week this year, providing our automatic vehicle and Volunteer drivers each day from Monday 25 May 2026 to Friday 29 May 2026.
RYDA is a powerful, award-winning road safety education program designed primarily for high school students. It helps young people build the skills, hazard perception strategies, and positive attitudes they need to stay safe on the road as both novice drivers and passengers. The program features a highly engaging, interactive one-day workshop built around six key learning areas, with PCYC delivering the ‘Speed and Stopping’ component.
Across the week, the program was delivered to seven schools and reached approximately 500 Year 11 and 12 students.
Our Volunteers — Rod, Kevin and Dave — did a wonderful job demonstrating the impact that speed has on stopping distance. Their enthusiasm helped bring the session to life, and the students were highly engaged throughout the dynamic demonstration.

Celebrating Braking the Cycle Volunteers - On Tue, 2nd June we had the pleasure of hosting our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, bringing together majority of our incredible Braking the Cycle volunteer mentors in one room. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect over delicious breakfast rolls and coffee while celebrating the people who make such a meaningful difference in our program.
The morning gave PCYC a chance to sincerely thank these dedicated members of our community for their unwavering commitment. Our volunteers consistently show up with passion, care, and generosity, qualities that have a lasting impact on the lives of our participants.
For many young people in the program, our mentors are a reliable and positive presence, offering consistency and encouragement. Their contribution goes far beyond teaching driving skills, they are role models who help build confidence and resilience.
It was wonderful to share stories, reflect on rewarding mentoring moments, and enjoy some relaxed time together. Events like this remind us just how fortunate we are to have such an inspiring group of volunteers.
We truly appreciate everything our mentors do - thank you for the difference you make every day!

Thinking about becoming a mentor? Here’s a great reminder of how your time can open new opportunities for young people on their driving journey. Check out the story below.

Braking the Cycle program coordinator Lynette Richardson says just a couple of hours of your time each week can mean the world to a young learner driver.

PCYC’s Braking the Cycle is available for 16- to 25-year-olds with limited access to a vehicle or supervisor to reach their 100 road hours.
