Sing Australia

Sing Australia Official' Sing Australia is a network of community singing groups across the country. Like us on our They will not be worried about what others think.

Welcome to Sing Australia

Our hope is that one day in our beautiful country everyone, who would like to sing, will feel free to do so. They will know that it is wonderful to just burst into song with the voice they have and to simply celebrate who they are, where they are and to just express the joy of life. They will know that spreading joy so freely will create a more harmonious world - a worl

d that is more accepting of all the variety we each bring to it. They will sing to comfort themselves in times of sadness. They will sing to ease the pressures of life. They will sing because it will connect them with others. Sing Australia is growing Australia into this type of world by being inclusive and welcoming of every voice. So many people say they can't sing but that is surely not so. They may not conform to the norms of singing but their voice can certainly comfortably join with the voices of others to create a oneness and beauty that can be called 'the voice of Australia'. Come and join in our fun and adventurous journey. Find the friendships,

Learn heaps of fantastic songs,

See Australia and the world,

Join with others from all around Australia to sing together in our fabulous gatherings

I invite you to check out our website and see what we offer and where you will find the nearest group to where you live. Charles Miller

Our Sing Australia groups have had a wonderful start to the year, with performances, community events and plenty of special moments already filling February 🎶

Kiama:
What was meant to be a simple performance at the Gerringong Community Expo quickly became a very memorable day for Sing Australia Kiama! The group was surprised to discover former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern attending the event while visiting local members Ray and Annette. Not only did she stay for the performance, she joined the group in singing the New Zealand National Anthem in both Māori and English. What began as a short set soon turned into a joyful community celebration filled with extra songs, smiling faces and wonderful energy. It was a beautiful reminder of the power of music to bring people together.

Canberra:
Sing Australia Canberra were honoured to once again sing at the Australian Bravery Association Memorial Service held in the Bravery Garden at Government House, Canberra. A group of 30 singers performed at the moving service alongside a brass quintet from the Duntroon Military Band and accompanist Linus Lee, under the direction of conductor Tim Bevitt.

Glenelg:
A combined group of nearly 30 singers from Sing Australia Glenelg and Warradale enjoyed a wonderful singalong at Alwyndor Nursing Home. With plenty of enthusiastic audience participation, laughter and music throughout the performance, everyone had a fantastic time together.

Wollongong:
Sing Australia Wollongong had a fantastic first night back, welcoming 7 new people along to the group! Fingers crossed we see them back again soon for plenty more singing, friendship and fun.

Thank you to all of our groups for continuing to share your wonderful community moments with us. We love seeing these!

Stay tuned for even more special moments as we share our March and April gig reports soon!

The group was proudly represented at the Dawn Service, with Dean laying the wreath on behalf of the group, before later performing at the ANZAC Breakfast where they were warmly received by the community. A big thank you to Mark for conducting and Emma for accompanying the group on such a special day.

Burnside:
Sing Australia Burnside were honoured to take part in their local ANZAC Day Dawn Service, joining the community in a moving morning of reflection and remembrance.

Ashbury:
Sing Australia Ashbury sang at the 84th Battle of the Coral Sea Day Commemorative Service at Kingsgrove RSL on Sunday 3rd May. It was a beautiful sunny morning as the group stood together in the sunshine to sing for the service. The address was given by WOMT Ray Scarlett (RAN) and the TS Sirius Cadets provided the Catafalque Party. A big thank you to Ravilya Sedlar for conducting the group, to all members who attended, and to President Alan Barnes OAM and the Kingsgrove RSL committee for the invitation and lovely morning tea afterwards.

Albury/Wodonga:
Sing Australia Albury/Wodonga proudly took part in their local ANZAC Day Dawn Service, joining the community in a meaningful morning of remembrance and reflection. Thank you to all involved in helping honour such an important occasion.

On Sunday 19th April, the Heathmont group celebrated 20 years of singing for fun with a special event – the “Big Sing”!

They were joined by Melbourne-based Sing Australia groups and the Sale group, with 108 members coming together from Heathmont, Bayside, Blackburn North, Camberwell, Ringwood and Sale. Each group selected three songs, creating a beautiful and diverse programme for the afternoon.

Heathmont members also prepared an incredible afternoon tea, along with a thoughtful display of items that hold personal meaning, including a brief history of the group compiled by Laura Martin.

Over the years, the group has been supported by 4 accompanists and 7 conductors (with one even returning after a 7-year break!). A fun bit of history… their very first conductor apparently walked out after the first song and was never seen again!

They sang 25 songs across the afternoon, led by Laura Martin and accompanied by Jenny Dawson, with special contributions from conductors and accompanists across the visiting groups.

It was a joyful afternoon of singing, connection and celebration – a true reflection of what Sing Australia is all about!! 💛

On Anzac Day, our Sing Australia groups across the country came together to honour, reflect and remember ❤️ Each group played a special role in commemorating this important day. Here are just a few of the beautiful ways our singers contributed:

Ashbury:
Sing Australia Ashbury were honoured to sing at the Kingsgrove RSL Anzac Day service. With clear skies and no wind, it was a beautiful setting alongside a large community crowd, including Scouts, Guides and sporting groups marching with veterans. Led by Ravilya Sedlar and accompanied by the Sutherland Shire Brass Band, the group also sang the New Zealand National Anthem in both Māori and English. A highlight was the moving address delivered by two Kingsgrove High School students. Thank you to Kingsgrove RSL Club President Alan Barnes OAM and committee for the invitation and warm hospitality.

Bayside:
What a day. A huge congratulations to all who sang, and thank you to Peter and Andrew for their beautiful direction. It was a moving and respectful service, with many heartfelt moments shared. The group performed both National Anthems with pride, including the New Zealand anthem in Māori, receiving wonderful feedback. Despite the challenges of singing outdoors, the group carried on with energy and spirit. Many stopped to share their appreciation, including younger people inspired to join. A special moment came when a young boy simply said, “thank you for coming to sing for us” — a reminder of the impact music can make.

Ballarat:
Sing Australia Ballarat were proud to take part in their local Anzac Day march and service. With hundreds lining the main street, it was a truly moving experience to honour the occasion alongside the community.

Kimba:
Sing Australia Kimba took part in the Kimba Institute Memorial Gardens Anzac Day service, singing Imagine, Amazing Grace and the National Anthem.

🇦🇺🇳🇿 We are so proud of all our groups who took part, using music to bring people together in remembrance and respect.

Lest We Forget.
