We celebrated Russia Day in style at WLAC! 🇷🇺

One of our own Nik, who is also from Russia, helped organise the celebration and it was a beautiful day of culture, connection, and community.

Our participants dressed in traditional attire and looked absolutely fantastic. They also enjoyed traditional Russian cuisine, including утренний чай (morning tea), пирожки (pirozhki), and more, while learning a little about Russian history from Nik.

The main room was filled with joy when everyone joined in the казак dance — what a wonderful moment!

At WLAC, we are proud to be a diverse multicultural community organisation, and we strive to include everyone in our celebrations and activities.

Celebrating the many cultures within our community helps us learn from one another and creates a stronger sense of belonging for everyone.

Looking for a great deal on a bike? Don't miss today's Used Bike Auction at the Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre! The Workshop Crew have been restoring push bikes that were donated to our centre.

Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre are on the tongs again today taking over the BBQ at Bunnings Airlie Beach for a good old-fashioned Sausage Sizzle fundraiser!

We’re raising funds for equipment, monthly outings, activities, and the Centre in Proserpine that opens 5 days a week supporting seniors and people living with disabilities. This will be our last BBQ for awhile so please come down and say hello 👋

We have your smoko and kunch sorted!!

Swing by from 9am until mid-afternoon for:
🌭 A perfectly cooked snag
🥤 An icy cold drink
💬 A yarn with our friendly crew
❤️ And the chance to support a great local cause

What an incredible effort from Nik!

👏👏

He smashed out the 23km walk from Cannonvale to Proserpine, with plenty of support along the way from people on bikes, in wheelchairs, and on foot.
The highway cheers, hoots, and friendly g’days kept him going all the way.

He was welcomed at the Centre with loud music 🎶 cheers 🥂 sausages and 🍎 🍉 as he crossed the finish line.
A brilliant community effort from start to finish.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to back Nik and support this great cause.

Tomorrow morning, one of our own Nik - Nikolai Romanov will be taking on an incredible 23km walk from Cannonvale to Proserpine as part of Counting Steps for Autism Australia 💙

Starting at 7:30am on Saturday, Nik will walk from Cannonvale all the way to Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre on Stanbury Street, Proserpine to help raise awareness and support for Autism Australia.

We’d love for the community to get involved:
