🟠 REGIONAL RESCUE OPERATIONS TRAINING | PORT LINCOLN SES 🟠

Four members from Port Lincoln and two from Ceduna State Emergency Service units came together in Port Lincoln this weekend to undertake nationally recognised Rescue Operations training.

The course covers a range of essential rescue skills, including rope work, knots, rescue equipment, casualty handling, stretcher operations, rescue anchorage systems and working safely at heights.

Combining theory with practical exercises, the training helps volunteers build their skills, confidence and teamwork while strengthening rescue capabilities across the Eyre Peninsula.

👏 Well done to everyone involved, and a big thank you to our trainers for their time and commitment!

A special thank you also to the additional Port Lincoln SES volunteers who came in today to play the role of casualties during the participants' final practical assessments. Your support helped make the scenarios more realistic!

🟠 MULTI-TASK STORM DAMAGE TRAINING | PORT LINCOLN SES 🟠

Our Port Lincoln SES volunteers were put through their paces tonight with a practical storm damage scenario involving structural damage to a building, a hole in the roof and water entering through a doorway.

Working in two teams under the guidance of their Team Leaders, members tackled several tasks, including:

🛠️ Installing a roof safety system to provide a safer working environment for members accessing the damaged roof, before carrying out temporary tarping to prevent further water entering the building.

🛠️ Diverting water away from a doorway to prevent further damage.

🛠️ Constructing a timber solid sole raker shore to practise structural support techniques.

🛠️ Timber cutting, power tool operation, equipment selection and scene safety.

The exercise brought together a range of skills, with newer volunteers learning alongside experienced members while putting teamwork, communication and problem-solving into practice.

A great night of hands-on training, reinforcing the skills our volunteers use when responding to storm damage across our community.

🍞🌭 You can't have a Bunnings sausage sizzle without bread!

🚨 A BUSY NIGHT OF TRAINING FOR PORT LINCOLN SES! 🧡

Our volunteers were put through their paces tonight with two challenging scenarios!

🔦 First up – Search and Rescue!

Reports of cries for help at the Train Park saw crews conduct a systematic line search, locating a casualty on top of the train after a simulated fall from a tree, resulting in two suspected broken legs.

Crews assessed and treated the casualty before carrying out a ladder slide rescue to safely lower them to the ground.

🚔 Then came a call from SA Police!

A second scenario saw crews split into teams to secure a simulated crime scene and erect a shelter to help preserve the area.

👏 A fantastic opportunity for experienced members to share their knowledge with newer volunteers while putting teamwork, search and rescue skills into practice.

Two scenarios, plenty of learning and another great night of SES training! 💪🧡
