This Tuesday night, I will be moving an Alternative Motion regarding the future of the Attadale Scout Hall.

Engineering reports recommend roof replacement and remediation, not demolition, with the masonry structure and existing services identified as being in good condition. Engineering estimates for roof replacement and associated remediation works are approximately $126,000.

My motion seeks to use the proposed $70,000 demolition funding towards practical and financially responsible retention options instead.

With the Attadale Scout Group growing strongly again, I believe all practical options should be assessed before demolishing a valued community youth facility.

At Scouts Australia - and of course ATTADALE SCOUT GROUP we use the “Plan–Do–Review” process to help young people learn through experience. Scouts plan an activity, take part in it, and then review how it went — discussing what worked well, what could be improved, and what they learnt along the way.

The review is not about criticism or judgement. Instead, it encourages teamwork, confidence, problem solving and personal growth in a supportive environment where everyone’s ideas and experiences are valued.

Welcome to Pally!

It’s fantastic to see the old kindy building at Geo Thompson Park returned to the community, with new groups already bringing fresh life and energy into the space.

The Attadale Scout Group has now moved into their new home and they’ve got the place looking incredible. I recently caught up with Stacey, Colin and members of the scout community at the kindy to hear about their plans for the future.

Sharing the space with them will be Pally6157, who have long hoped to call this place home. I’ve worked with and advocated alongside the City over many years to help make this happen, and I couldn’t be happier to see this new chapter begin.
