In Loving Memory of Trevor Turner🕊️
The rabbit world has lost one of its brightest lights. Trevor was more than a rabbit person, he was a mentor, a gentleman, and a true Prince Charming to his beloved Sally. Together, they shared a love story straight out of a fairytale, often found at rabbit conventions across America along with travelling to show across Australia, enjoying crazy nights out with friends, enjoying magical moments at Disneyland and sharing a love for the animals they cared for on their property - where it is to be noted, Trevor’s horse Mia was totally better than Sally’s.
Trevor’s passion for rabbits began in the 90s and helped shape the future of our hobby in Australia. He was one of the founding members of the South Australian Rabbit Club in 1999, a man who believed in fairness, community, and doing everything by the book. His dedication built the foundations that many of us still stand on today. In recent years he kept Mini Rex, held the position of Treasurer and Show Secretary for SARA and along with Sally, they bought the Australian Championship Rabbit Show back to life, an event of which he was really proud of, because he was just so passionate about all states sharing and coming together to show and learn and return to being one team.
He and Sally proudly worked with the first Harlequin rabbits in Australia, helping to develop the Jersey Woolies in the early 2000s, even being the first to exhibit and win with them. While his heart belonged to the Mini Rex, he always had a soft spot for those sweet little Woolies.
As a rabbit judge, Trevor had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. His kind manner, sense of humour, and genuine love for the animals (and the people who cared for them) made him truly unforgettable.
He was a father, grandfather, and “deer dad”(you knew I had to mention his beloved squeaky) adored by family, friends, and rabbit fanciers across the world. His luscious hair, cheeky personality, adoration for Sally and warm hugs will be remembered by all who knew him. He fought so hard through the pain and fear for so long and put his love of rabbits, people’s needs and the dedication for the rabbit community in the forefront even when he was struggling.
Rest easy, Trevor. Your legacy will live on in every show table, every new breeder you inspired, the love you gave to Sally, the stories left with your friends and every bunny whose story began because of you. 💐🐇
We miss you Trev your memory and with that you, remain alive in all our heads.
