We're lucky enough to call Harpreet a familiar face at our Rockingham respite accommodation. So we reached out to the team that knows him best.

Our support workers say they're "truly lucky" to get to spend time with Harpreet. He's known for his infectious smile, always laughing at jokes and dance moves, and spreading joy wherever he goes! 🌻💛

After a stroke affected his speech, Chris Wallace worked with Rocky Bay Advanced Clinician Speech Pathologist, Georgia Toutountzis, and embraced AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to help him communicate with greater confidence and independence.💙

Today, we’re proudly celebrating Wear It Purple Day! 💜🌈

This year’s theme, Colours of Courage, recognises the many ways LGBTQIA+SB people, allies and communities show courage every day. From speaking up and creating change to living authentically and supporting others, every act of courage matters.

Our team came together in purple and added messages of support, belonging and hope to our Rocky Bay Rainbow, helping create a colourful display that celebrates diversity, inclusion and acceptance.

For many of us, communicating is something we rarely think about. But for people living with a communication disability, being understood can be one of life's greatest challenges.

This Speech Pathology Week, we're sharing Sarah's story. With the support of her Rocky Bay Speech Pathologist Claire and a personalised Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device, Sarah has found new ways to express herself, make choices, and connect with the people around her.

From requesting trips to the pool to joining conversations about meals and activities, Sarah's journey shows the incredible possibilities that open up when people have the right tools and support to communicate.
