Researchers at Curtin University are conducting a study which aims to help young people who currently engage in self-injury. What is Self-injury? Lots of people use self-injury to cope with stress, anxiety or depression. Self-injury is commonly used as a way of coping with intense negative emotions and can involve cutting, burning or carving the skin and hitting or banging the self or hard objects
. What does the study involve and who is eligible? We are looking for young people aged 18-25 years who have self-injured in the last 12 months. An initial phone interview will be conducted and if eligible you will be offered an 8 week group therapy program starting in March 2015. There is no cost to take part in the program. Participants will have the chance to earn up to $100 in iTunes vouchers for completing the assessment tasks associated with the treatment.
