It’s with the greatest joy we can share this news…
Manny is ADOPTED!! 😭🙌🏽🎉
Some dogs just take a little longer to find their person.
For Manny, it took 2,770 days.
Manny came into SABBR care on 8 January 2019. Since then, he’s had different foster homes, different chapters and a few times when we thought he’d finally found his forever, only for things not to work out.
But Manny kept waiting.
For the past three years, he’s been loved by foster mum Michelle and her family — and they never stopped believing that somewhere out there was the person who would see what they saw in this big teddy bear.
And then Chelsea found Manny on SavourLife.
She was searching for a senior doggy companion when his face appeared on her screen. He reminded her of her late mum’s dog, Jax, and something just clicked.
She knew she wanted Manny.
From Manny’s forever mum, Chelsea 🥹
“I started my search for a senior doggy companion, and after a couple of days I came across Manny’s profile on SavourLife.
Manny looked incredibly similar to my late Mum’s dog, Jax. Jax was also a rescue and, sadly, wasn’t given the fair chance he deserved in life. When I saw Manny’s smiley, happy and adorable photos, I was completely sold. He looked like a big teddy bear who was just waiting for someone to give him his forever home, and after seeing his profile for the first time, I knew I wanted that person to be me.
Manny settled in immediately. We go for a walk before work and again after work every day. He loves his yoghurt or peanut butter lick mat, he’s learning to play fetch, he is learning to like and accept other doggos and he even sleeps on the bed every night.
Since the day he arrived home, Manny has shown me nothing but unconditional love. He has truly changed my life for the better, and through him, I feel a little piece of my late Mum — almost as though she sent him to me.
Thank you for choosing me to add Manny to my family. We are both so happy, settled and grateful to have found each other.”
From foster mum Michelle 🫶🏽
“Manny came to us just over 3 years ago full of energy & love & wanted to jump up & give us hugs.
It was winter when he came to us & I proceeded to come down with the flu, so spent the next week in bed. Manny would come in & nudge the top of the quilt & climb under & snuggled up next to me. He must have thought this new way of life was pretty good.
Everyone loved Manny & Manny loved our friends & family, always looking for lots of pats & cuddles. We would always say to friends, ‘I don’t know why no-one wants him. He is such a gentleman & just a big teddy bear.’
We are so happy that after all this time Manny has found his forever home & someone that loves him as much as we do.
He loves his walks & looks forward to them every day & to hear he is now going on two walks would be Manny’s idea of the perfect day.”
Chelsea, thank you for seeking out a senior, taking the chance to meet Manny and, most importantly, being his forever. We know just how loved he is by you. ♥️
Michelle, foster carers are the lifeline every dog who comes into our care needs. The time Manny shared with you has had a profound impact on his life and helped lead him to Chelsea.
Thank you for never giving up on him, and for honouring the commitment you made to Manny when he first came into your care.
After 2,770 days, Manny’s wait is over.
We stand by our words:
For every dog, there is their destined-to-be forever.
And Manny has found his. 🙌🏽
