A northern suburbs soccer club is preparing to launch a new all-abilities team for kids with disabilities.

What an incredible season for Equal Footingball it's been! Thank you to all our participating clubs Cockburn City Soccer Club, Lynwood United Football Club and Kalamunda City FC for embracing inclusion and helping create a football community where everyone belongs. ⚽

This season, we welcomed new players who graduated from their iLeague teams at Dianella Junior Soccer Club, Victoria Park Soccer Club, and Baldivis Districts FC, and have now joined the Equal Footingball community.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers — your commitment to supporting inclusion, and to giving people with disability real opportunities and pathways to play the game they love, is what makes this program possible. We couldn't do this without you.

Special thanks to Cockburn City Soccer Club for generously hosting our celebration in their clubhouse, and to Purple Heather for sponsoring our participation medals — your support means so much to our players and their families.

Matildas legend Lydia Williams is coming to Broome this November for the launch of Yilkari — a new coach development and leadership program for First Nations women and girls aged 15–30!

From community visits to a Come and Try Day open to all, this is your chance to meet Lydia, have a go at coaching, and be part of something built for and by First Nations women 🖤💛❤️

Calling families with kids aged 7-13! Join our i-League end of season celebration this Sunday to wrap up the year 🥳

If you know anyone who has been wanting to give the i-League a go, this is a great opportunity to come down and try it out.

Come and meet coaches from all our participating i-League clubs or Football Futures coaches and learn more about our program.

i-League is a club-based program for children aged 7-13 with disability, developmental delays, additional needs or those who may not yet feel comfortable or ready for mainstream sport. Our focus is on participation, fun, confidence and belonging — not competition.

Calling all First Nations community members 📣

Enter the 2027 NAIDOC Ball Competition!

The winning design is printed on 500 footballs alongside the Insurance Commission’s Belt Up road safety message. The footballs are then distributed to communities, schools and clubs across Western Australia as part of NAIDOC Week, which next year runs from 4-11 July 2027.

📣 The 2027 NAIDOC Ball Design competition is under way with members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities invited to submit their entries.

This year’s competition is a joint initiative between Football West, the Insurance Commission of Western Australia and, for the first time, Football Futures Foundation.

The winning design is printed on 500 footballs alongside the Insurance Commission’s Belt Up road safety message. The footballs are then distributed to communities, schools and clubs across Western Australia as part of NAIDOC Week, which next year runs from 4-11 July 2027.

A soccer player from Broome is back home after a whirlwind trip to the United States to play for Australia.

Ben Robertson, who is a player and volunteer with the Broome Soccer Association, was selected to play an international tournament called the Genuine World Cup, in Houston, Texas.

"It was lifechanging — the experience was amazing," said Ben, who was the Australian goalie and also captained their match against India.

Australia came 8th out of 54 teams, playing the likes of Colombia, England, USA, Netherlands and Croatia.

"I saved a penalty against England; England had the momentum and that save clicked us back into gear and we won the match," he said.

Mr Robertson said the atmosphere of the tournament's village was vibrant and festive, and a great place to meet people from all over the world.

The 2026 Genuine World Cup brought together 54 international teams with more than a thousand neuro-diverse players and coaches.

The West Australian charity Football Futures Foundation selected Australia's squad and support staff and took the national team to the USA.
