BIG FREEZE FUNDRAISING EVENT – 6 JUNE | 12PM – 4PM

Dear Club Members and Community,

One of our dearest families is in need of our support, and as a club, we are coming together to help.

Chris Steele is the kind of nurse people never forget. For over 40 years, she has cared for others through life’s most vulnerable moments — from supporting new mums and babies to providing comfort and dignity in palliative care. Beyond her professional life, Chris is the heart of her family — a devoted mum and grandmother who brings warmth and kindness to everyone around her.

Early last year, Chris was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a progressive condition that affects the nerves controlling movement, gradually impacting a person’s ability to move, speak, and care for themselves. Around 2,000 Australians are living with MND, and currently there is no cure.

Despite this, Chris continues to show incredible strength, resilience, and positivity. As a family, they are cherishing every moment while raising awareness for others affected by MND.

To support Chris, her family, and the broader MND community, we invite you to a Big Freeze fundraising event at Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday 6 June, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

This will be a meaningful community event, bringing people together in support and solidarity. All funds raised contribute to vital MND research, care, and support services.

We are also seeking support to cover the cost of an inflatable slide for the kids on the day.

True to the spirit of the ANZACs, Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club once again joined forces with our brothers and sisters from Coolum Surf Life Saving Club for the Dawn Service this morning.

As the sun rose over the ocean, we paused together to remember the courage, sacrifice, and mateship of those who served and continue to serve our country. Seeing our community come together in quiet respect—standing shoulder to shoulder in solidarity—is what ANZAC Day is truly about.

We remember them.
We honour their legacy.
And we carry their spirit forward through unity, service, and mateship.
