Grant Alert – Stronger Communities Programme Round 10

Expressions of Interest are now opening for the Stronger Communities Programme Round 10, with grants of $2,500 to $20,000 available for eligible community projects.

This could be a good opportunity for clubs with projects planned for equipment, facilities or other club improvements.

There is one important difference with this grant – you don't apply directly in the first instance.

Each Federal electorate has $150,000 to allocate, and clubs must first submit an Expression of Interest to their local Federal MP. Each MP runs their own EOI process and sets their own closing date. Clubs that are selected are then invited to submit a formal application.

1. Your project idea – a couple of sentences is fine, plus an approximate cost if you have one; and

2. Your club's suburb and postcode OR the name of your Federal electorate if you already know it.

That's it.

I'll check whether your project appears to fit the program, identify your Federal electorate if needed, and find the EOI process and closing date for your local MP.

NSW GRANT OPPORTUNITY – DEFIBRILLATORS

The NSW Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program 2026/27 is now open.

Funding: Up to $3,000
For: Eligible NSW sporting and active recreation organisations
What for: An approved Automated External Defibrillator (AED) package
Closes: 7 October 2026 at 1pm – OR EARLIER IF FUNDING IS EXHAUSTED

Don't wait until October! Applications are assessed in the order received and the program can close once the available funding has been allocated.

Eligibility is targeted towards clubs operating in, or servicing participants from, eligible NSW postcodes. Clubs outside those areas may also be eligible where they can demonstrate financial hardship.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY – UP TO $35,000

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) – Round 127 is now open!

Funding: Up to $35,000
Closing date: 28 September 2026
Who: Eligible Queensland not-for-profit community organisations

If your club has been thinking about new equipment, facility improvements, storage, safety equipment or another project, now is the time to see whether it could be a good fit for GCBF funding.

Important: GCBF has introduced a new online grants system, so don't leave registration or your application until the last minute. Check the guidelines and apply through the Queensland Government GCBF page

Tip: Start with the problem your project will solve and the difference the funding will make — not just a list of what you want to buy.

Heads up sporting clubs – this one will move FAST

A new round of the Game On: Teaming Up for Climate Action program is about to drop… and if you’re not ready early, you could miss out.

Of all the community sports clubs across Australia, only 500 will be funded in this round.

💰 Grants of $25,000 to $100,000 are available for things like:
☀️ Solar + battery systems
💡 Energy-efficient lighting
🌿 Climate resilience upgrades

The good news? It’s not a competitive ranking process — if you’re eligible and prepared, you’re in with a real chance.

The catch… ⏰
📅 Opens: 11 June 2026
📅 Closes: 8 July 2026 (or earlier if funds run out)

Translation: this is a first-ready, first-funded situation

Quick eligibility check:
✔️ Not-for-profit incorporated club
✔️ ABN in place
✔️ Affiliated with a recognised sporting body
✔️ Some regional/remote schools may also be eligible

💡 Co-contribution is optional
📍 Projects to be completed by March 2028

We are providing $35.3 million over two grant funding rounds to help local sports clubs take climate action. The first round is expected to open for applications on 11 June 2026 and close on 8 July 2026, with $17.6 million available in grant funding.

The 2026 Grant Round is now open — and there are some important changes you need to know about before you apply.

This year, grants range from $25,000 to $50,000 AUD with projects running up to 24 months. Two key eligibility updates: applicants must have an annual revenue of $5 million or less (noting international projects may be exempt) , and be able to contribute or source at least 25% of project costs in cash.

Expressions of Interest are now open for projects supporting women and girls. Funding will be offered between $25,000 and $50,000. Organisations must be Australian registered charities with DGR Status 1 and annual revenue less than $5 million (Australian charities supporting international projects may be exempt). Projects can be based locally, nationally or internationally and run for up to 24 months.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available to eligible organisations to support the efforts of their volunteers. The grants can be used to buy small equipment for volunteers, for the reimbursement of volunteer transport, training costs, or to purchase items that help promote awareness of volunteering opportunities.

Applicants are required to submit an Expression of Interest to their local member of parliament which will be assessed by a local committee. Successful EOI applicants will then be invited to submit a formal application to the Department of Social Services (DSS).
