🔥 Are you ready for bushfire season 🔥

Ocean View RFB spent the day at the Dayboro markets today, helping raise awareness for the coming bushfire season. We provided attendees information on how to prepare their properties, rules around lighting fires, and how to sign up to their local brigade.

Of course the fire truck was open for business to the many children that came by, and even some adults that took part!

Yesterday, we assisted a local resident by performing a large hazard reduction burn, which has drastically lowered the bushfire risk at their property and many others in our community.

It was a busy weekend for the brigade engaging in these important mitigation activities. A big thank you to our volunteers for their time, and the community for their reception.

🔥🚒 Ocean View and Surrounds residents 🚒 🔥

**26/09 Update: due to rain last night and this morning, this HRB has been postponed 1 week. We will re-post the below in the lead up to this occurring**

Ocean View RFB will be conducting a Hazard Reduction Burn (HRB) tomorrow (Saturday 26/09/2026) on approximately 16 acres off Zillman Road, Ocean View. Refer to the image below for the planned burn area.

The core HRB activity is expected to be completed by early afternoon, however smoke may linger up to a couple of days afterwards.

What should you do:
🔥 Expect smoke in the area and be vigilant around your properties and on nearby roads.
🚨 If present, avoid driving through smoke where possible, and be aware of firefighters working in the area.
🪟 If smoke is impacting your property, consider closing your windows and doors. Keep respiratory medication close by as required.

🔥 OVRFB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 🔥

Today we held our Annual General Meeting, and it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from our brigade members.

Our AGM is always a great opportunity to reflect on the year gone by, recognise the contribution of our volunteers, and look ahead to another year of serving the Ocean View community.

This was a voting year, and with that there are some changes to our Executive team - refer below image. We would particularly like to thank the office bearers stepping down for the many years of time, effort, and commitment they have given to their roles. While they may be handing over the reins, we’re very thankful they’ll remain an important part of our brigade ranks.

To those taking on new office bearer roles - thank you for stepping up and volunteering your time to help lead and support the brigade into the years ahead.

We were also very pleased to welcome some special guests today. A big thank you to Sergeant Ken from Dayboro Police, Lee Tapper from Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade, and Chris Randle from Area Office for taking the time to attend and share the occasion with us.

Most importantly, thank you to all of our brigade members who continue to volunteer their time to the brigade and our community 🚒

We’re looking forward to another year of working together and continuing to provide a strong volunteer fire service to the Ocean View community and further afar ❤️🔥

🔥 FIRE PERMITS SUSPENDED - MORETON BAY 🔥

Due to forecast weather conditions, all Permits to Light Fire within the Moreton Bay LGA will be suspended from 8:00am Sunday 6 September until 8:00am Monday 7 September 2026.

🚫 During this period, no burning is permitted under an existing Permit to Light Fire.

If you had a burn planned for Sunday, please postpone it until the suspension has been lifted.

With warmer weather upon us, it’s a timely reminder that fire conditions can change quickly. Please stay informed and check current conditions before lighting up.

🔥🚨 Residents of Southern Ocean View residents should not be alarmed if they see red and blue flashing lights in the vicinity of Ocean View Road / Mountain View Road and Grandview Drive on Monday 31 August.
