What is ANS?
ANS (Activity Notification system) is one of the more important Scouts NSW safety mechanisms to ensure those organising activities for our Scouts have adequately prepared and are suitable qualified to run the activity. If the activity is deemed to be of a certain risk-level it will go to the Regional Commissioner Activities (Greg Denning in H&C) to review and approve.
For those who have been around for a while, think of the old E3 form. You will need to attach the activity plan and risk assessment as a minimum.

(Please note you will need to log in with you scout email address and Multi-factor authentication)
An ANS submission is required for:
• All Adventurous Activities*
• All Commercial Activities*
• Camping.
An ANS submission isn’t required for the following items, but each Group must maintain a risk assessment for any activity it conducts in its hall or environs and must have obtained parental consent generally for those activities:
• Activities done in the hall, such as bushcraft and pioneering, where the participants' feet are less than 2m above the ground
• Activities in the hall and the environs of the hall up to 2km, which are not Adventurous Activities, and could include walks and games
• General leisure activities such as bowling or a Macca's dining in night.
Still not sure? If something is outside of these guidelines, use your judgment; if there is a need to consider a risk assessment and plan the activity, put it in ANS.
Any questions reach out to any member of the Team or your Group Leader.
