What a weekend! The Newcastle PCYC Brass Band has been crowned the 2026 NSW C Grade Brass State Champions at the NSW Band Association State Band Championships in Penrith! 🏆

After months of rehearsals, hard work, early starts, late nights and plenty of laughs along the way, the band has delivered when it mattered most. ❤️💙

🎉 Congratulations to Leslie Mooney on being named the Hunter Regional Band Association Young Band Person of the Year for 2026!

Nominated by HSPA, Leslie has been an integral member of Newcastle PCYC Brass Band for many years and is also a valued member of Waratah Brass. Throughout his banding journey, Leslie has demonstrated outstanding musicianship, leadership, commitment, and dedication to the wider banding community.

This prestigious award is a fitting recognition of the significant contribution Leslie makes both on and off the stage. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and the positive example he sets for younger musicians.

As the Hunter Regional recipient, Leslie will now progress to the Band Association of NSW State Young Band Person of the Year Award.

Congratulations, Leslie, and best of luck at the State level! We know you will represent the Hunter region with distinction

🎺🏆 Congratulations to Newcastle PCYC Brass Band on an outstanding achievement, taking out 1st Place in Division 2 at the East Coast Championships and 1st Place in Section 2 at the Festival of Bands!

Our PCYC Junior Band was also proud to perform as part of the Youth Gala Concert, showcasing the next generation of talented musicians.

It was a fantastic day of banding at the Newcastle Conservatorium, filled with exceptional performances, great camaraderie, and a celebration of community music-making.

Congratulations to all bands who participated and contributed to another successful and inspiring event. 🎶👏🎺

Lest We Forget 🌺
Newcastle PCYC Brass Band was honoured to be part of the 2026 Anzac Day commemorations.
Our buglers attended several Dawn Services across the region, while the full band performed at the Hamilton Dawn Service.
We then joined the Anzac March at Nelson Bay, finishing the day with a concert at Wests Nelson Bay.
A privilege to reflect, remember, and share the spirit of the day through music. 🎺
