Who needs a bowling alley when you can turn the Lifeskills Plus common area into one 🎳

Our clients and staff set up their own ten pin bowling activity and before long it turned into a morning full of laughs, friendly competition and plenty of attempts at striking out.

Safe to say, some of the staff were just as competitive as the clients.

Activities like this are a great way to encourage movement, coordination, teamwork and confidence, all while creating fun shared moments together.

Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity to turn an ordinary morning into a great one.

Our Auslan Sign of the Week with Zola continues

This week, our clients are learning the sign for “Doctor.”

Learning practical everyday words like this helps support communication in important real life situations, giving clients more confidence to express themselves and understand those around them.

These sessions continue to be a wonderful way to build communication skills in a positive and supportive environment.

We love seeing our clients embrace each new word and enjoy the journey together each week.

State of Origin night at Lifeskills Plus 🏉

With plenty of footy fanatics amongst our clients and staff, there was only one way to watch State of Origin... together!

The centre was decked out in blue and maroon balloons, the excitement was building before kick-off, and the friendly rivalry was in full swing as everyone backed their team.

Events like these are about more than just the game.

They’re an opportunity for our clients to come together, share interests, enjoy each other’s company and be part of the excitement that brings so many Australians together each year.

There were plenty of laughs, plenty of footy talk, and a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

A great night enjoyed by all, regardless of which side of the border you were cheering for!

We’re looking forward to the decider game 🏈

There is always something happening in the kitchen at Lifeskills Plus

With the support and guidance of our staff, our clients are learning important everyday cooking skills, from safely using sharp knives and cutting ingredients to cooking on the stovetop and preparing meals together.

Programs like this help build confidence, independence and practical life skills that can be carried into everyday living.

Plus, there is always a great sense of pride in enjoying something you have helped create from start to finish.

And of course, no cooking session is complete without the washing up afterwards.

A sunny day called for something a little different

One of our supported independent living clients took the opportunity to help wash the Lifeskills Plus car, turning a simple everyday task into a valuable learning experience.

While this is not something our clients regularly do, it was a great chance to build confidence, responsibility and practical life skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Sometimes it is the everyday activities that create the best opportunities for learning and independence.

At Lifeskills Plus, we encourage movement and exercise in ways that are engaging, fun and suited to our clients 🥊

This week, some of our staff geared up with the boxing pads so clients could practise their punches, and there were definitely a few powerful hits thrown.

Boxing is a great way to keep active while also helping build coordination, focus, balance and confidence.

Activities like this allow our clients to stay moving, release energy and learn practical skills, all while having a great time together.

The rain sometimes keeps us indoors, but that doesn’t stop the fun at Lifeskills Plus

Our clients and staff got creative with a makeshift badminton game using tinsel as the net and balloons as the ball, and safe to say, there were plenty of laughs along the way.

Activities like this are a great way to keep everyone active, engaged and connected, even on rainy days when heading outside is not an option.

Sometimes the best moments come from the simplest ideas and a little imagination.
