CUC Mudgee Region is seeking a new Board Member working in the Health field to be part of guiding the Centre's strategic direction. Health is the largest area of study among local students, so it is important for this field of study to be reflected on the Board.

The Board plays a vital role in ensuring the Centre thrives, improving access to higher education and delivering real outcomes for the Mudgee Region. Board membership is for a three-year term. This is a voluntary, non-stipendiary appointment.

To apply, applicants are required to submit a formal expression of interest including a covering letter detailing the skills they will bring to the Board and a current Curriculum Vitae to the Centre Manager, Camilla Davis, on [email protected]. Applications close 25 September 2026. If you have any questions, please call Camilla Davis on 0461 303 164.

How do we judge the information around us? Next week at CUC Mudgee Region, we're thinking critically – looking at how we investigate and analyse information to draw conclusions and form our own opinions.

Join us for an evening chat with communications specialist Deb Patison, looking at the concept of critical thinking and its relevance to everyday life and academic success. Deb tells us, "Just because something sounds right, doesn't mean it is – question it!"

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with some intriguing ideas with our fellow students and thinkers! Let us know if you're coming so we can save you a seat.

Join us tomorrow night, 5.30pm Wednesday 5 August, for a conversation with Caren Harrison, General Manager at Western NSW Local Health District and board member of CUC Mudgee Region.

Caren started out as a nurse and midwife for the Royal Flying Doctors. Now she manages the largest health district in NSW, stretching from Oberon to Lightning Ridge.

Caren is going to sit down with us for a casual conversation about her career in regional health. For anyone studying health or interested in the subject, this is a great chance to meet fellow students and chat with an experienced professional.

Let us know if you can join us, and we'll save you a seat!
