Community su***de prevention event at CUC Mudgee Region.

Mission Australia, together with StandBy, Lifeline and the NALAG Team, invites community members to attend The Way Back Su***de Prevention Community Event.

This free community engagement session aims to:
🔹 Increase understanding of su***de response and support services
🔹 Explore the impact su***de has on individuals, families and communities
🔹 Identify local strengths and support needs
🔹 Share information about su***de prevention pathways, care coordination and training opportunities
🔹 Provide practical wellbeing, self-care and resilience-building strategies

Thank you to Dr Hadi Rose for joining our creative de-stress evening! We learned a lot about how to take better care of our brains and bodies – who knew eating at a regular time and getting to bed early could be good for us! And we all went home with a personalised painted plant pot. Special thanks as well to Royston Petrie Seeds for donating seed packets for students to take home and plant in their pots!

At last week's sustainability events, we explored the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals – a set of steps towards achieving a fairer, healthier, happier world! How does CUC fit into the 17 goals?

📖 Goal 4: Quality Education. Our mission is to make learning achievable and available for everyone.
💡 Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. Our Centre is powered by 90 solar panels.
💼 Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. We build local qualifications and expand the local workforce.
🤝 Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. Studying is hard for regional students – we give them the facilities they've been missing.
🏘️ Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. By building qualifications and helping locals achieve their goals, we are building the community we want to live in!

Join us for a creative de-stress evening for students. We’re going to chat de-stress strategies with Hadi Rose of All the H, while we take up our paintbrushes to decorate a plant pot. Enjoy a peaceful hour of mindful creativity and go home with practical tips for managing student stress! It's the break we all need in the middle of final assignments and exams. No art experience needed!

Wednesday, June 10, from 5.30pm at the Country Universities Centre. Let us know if you're coming along, so we can make sure we have enough pots!

On Thursday evening, local business owners and sustainability enthusiasts joined us for Sustainability in Business at CUC Mudgee Region. Consultant Amanda Choy shared some of today's most exciting and innovative sustainability innovations. We all walked away inspired to improve our sustainable practices – we're ready for Plastic-free July!

It was a morning of sustainability, new ideas, and future planning at CUC Mudgee Region today!

UTS lecturer Milena Bojovic worked with Mudgee High students to plan sustainable cities of the future and to see where sustainability factors into our own lives.
