Monday night’s Dinner Meeting was a packed event but we managed to get everything done. Jenny Delima was inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Mount Barker. She is pictured with Pres Andy, Karen Nolan (her mentor) husband and past District Governor, Peter Schaefer. For the Rotary Spotlight, James Hawker then regaled us with the abridged Hawker family history in South Australia including a description of a very rough and ready early city of Adelaide with a slab hut for government house. After director’s reports and dinner and fellowship, Amy Dospisil spoke about her experience at the National Leadership Forum in Canberra last year that was sponsored by our club, Amy is pictured with Pres Andy and Justin Hill. The evening concluded with our Sergeant, Chris Cleveland, hosting some tough trivia questions with all fines imposed for wrong answers and interjections going to the membership account.

The Mount Barker Christmas Pageant was a popular event to attend on a beautiful December summer day. The little red truck was ably driven by John “Cookie” Cook and the lollies and chocolates were handed out to the eager children lining the route by Joe Geue, Meliza Lacambra, Justin Hill and a dashing pixie in a red tutu (Andrew Scott). Ian Turner was the man behind the camera and Stuart Auld was behind the scenes organising and making decisions (because someone has to). As well as having our own float the RCMB sponsors the Cinderella Float which was “staffed” by some local kids having fun dressed as characters from the fairy tale.
