From humble beginnings to the brigade we are today πŸš’

Every brigade has a story β€” and Littlehampton CFS is built on one of community, courage and a willingness to help.

Ron Childs, a respected Littlehampton community member and Mount Barker Rotary Club President, tragically lost his life from burns sustained during the devastating Ash Wednesday fires in 1983.

In his memory, the Littlehampton Fire Station was developed as a memorial to Ron and others who lost their lives during the disaster.

Generations of volunteers have answered the call, stood alongside their community through some of its toughest moments, and passed their knowledge and experience on to those who came after them.

Today, we proudly carry that history forward. We remember those who came before us, honour the foundations they built, and continue their legacy by training, responding and serving our community whenever we are needed.

From humble beginnings to today β€” the spirit of Littlehampton CFS remains the same.

❀️ Community. Courage. Commitment.

What a great evening Monday at our brigade AGM β€οΈπŸš’

It was a chance to reflect on the past year, recognise the incredible work of our brigade and look ahead to another year of serving our community.

While we’re missing several integral volunteers from this photo, their contribution is very much part of what makes our brigade the team it is. Every hour volunteered, every call attended and every job behind the scenes makes a difference.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers for your commitment, dedication and support. We couldn’t do it without you.

🚨 National Emergency Alert System Test – Today at 1:30 pm 🚨

Today at 1:30 pm, a national test of the National Emergency Alert System will take place.

During the test, you may receive a text message or an automated voice message on your mobile or landline. This is only a test to ensure the system is working correctly and to help Australians recognise what an emergency alert looks and sounds like.

The National Emergency Alert System is used to warn communities about serious incidents such as bushfires, floods and other emergencies where lives may be at risk.

βœ… No action is required if you receive the test message today.

Knowing what to expect means you’ll be better prepared if a real emergency alert is ever issued.

*Note* You will not receive the Alert msg if your phone is off or if flight mode is activated.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.

This afternoon, Littlehampton CFS responded alongside Mount Barker CFS and SES to a motor vehicle incident at Petstock, Totness, where a vehicle collided with the front of the building.

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries reported. Our crew assisted with making the scene safe before handing the incident over to the appropriate authorities.

Thank you to everyone who gave our crews room to work and to the staff and customers for their cooperation during the incident.

A reminder to always take care when manoeuvring vehicles in car parks and around busy shopping areas.

Just after 1:30am this morning, Littlehampton CFS responded as part of a multi-agency response to a truck trailer fire on the South Eastern Freeway near St Ives.

Crews worked alongside other CFS brigades and emergency services to bring the incident under control, prevent fire spread and ensure the area was made safe. Incidents involving heavy vehicles on major roadways can present a range of challenges, particularly during overnight operations.

We thank all responding crews for their professionalism and teamwork, as well as motorists for their patience while emergency services carried out their work.

A huge thank you to the wonderful students at Lenswood Primary School for the beautiful handmade card we received for Thank a First Responder Day. ❀️

One of our volunteers has a special connection with the school, making this thoughtful gesture even more meaningful. The time, creativity and kindness that went into the card brought plenty of smiles to our members and serves as a reminder of the incredible support we receive from our community.

On behalf of Littlehampton CFS and the other brigades who also received these special messages, thank you for helping us feel appreciated and valued. Your kindness means more than you know. πŸš’βœ¨

This National Reconciliation Week, Littlehampton Country Fire Service proudly stands All In.

As volunteers, neighbours and community members, we recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking together toward a more united future. We acknowledge and respect First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land and honour their enduring connection to Country, culture and community.

Reconciliation is built through understanding, respect and action and it’s something we all have a role in.
