Expressions of interest are officially open ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ for farmers to participate in our 2026-27 Fertiliser Management Program!

With fuel and fertiliser costs on the rise, smarter fertiliser use can help farmers get the most from their land while reducing runoff into local waterways and supporting healthier estuaries downstream.

This program is for grazing beef, dairy and sheep farmers with at least 40 hectares of arable land in one of the following catchments:
โ€ข Peel-Harvey
โ€ข Leschenault
โ€ข Vasse-Wonnerup and Geographe
โ€ข Hardy Inlet
โ€ข Wilson Inlet
โ€ข Torbay Inlet
โ€ข Oyster Harbour (located where the average annual rainfall exceeds 550mm)

The program is also open to farmers outside these catchments through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's Soils - New Horizons program. Whole Farm Nutrient Mapping

Through honest conversation, practical examples and shared experience, the session aims to support farming businesses and communities to better navigate challenging seasons, remaining productive and resilient when that next hurdle rolls around the corner.

The afternoon will include short presentations, producer discussion panels, interactive workshop conversations and a ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง๐ž๐ซ to keep the informal conversations flowing. Including pizza and one drink of your choice on us.

As a not-for-profit organisation we are supported by a host of incredible and talented volunteers who give their time, experience and efforts in many different ways. Just one of those is ๐’„๐’Š๐’•๐’Š๐’›๐’†๐’ ๐’”๐’„๐’Š๐’†๐’๐’•๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’” who brave the cool Autumn evenings of the Greater Albany region during the month of April to count critically endangered ๐‘พ๐’†๐’”๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’ ๐’“๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ๐’•๐’‚๐’Š๐’ ๐’‘๐’๐’”๐’”๐’–๐’Ž๐’” as part of the .

This year for the Great Southern we received:
๐Ÿ’š178 Tally's completed
๐Ÿ’šCovering 26 different suburbs from Napier to Kronkup
๐Ÿ’š66 Volunteers taking the time to search for and record possums
๐Ÿ’šAn average of 1.6 Western ringtail possums per Tally survey๐Ÿพ

This important information helps guide conservation efforts for our precious possums, particularly in the urban and semi-urban area. We thank all those who participated and supported this initiative and congratulations to the prize winners: Monique M, John Mc and Kylie F!

And what a pleasure it was to see so many people getting out to represent our precious possums. There were over 457 Tally's submitted this year with over 77 for the Great Southern!
