Helping Shape Our Group’s Sustainability – AGM May 18th
When? 18 May , 2026
Dear Parents, Carers, and Families of 1st Paterson Bolwarra Beresfield Morpeth scouts ,
Scouting provides incredible opportunities for our children to grow, learn skills, and build lifelong friendships.
As our group continues to grow, it’s crucial that we, as the wider family network, mobilize together to support and sustain that growth.
Currently, our Scout Group is very "Group Leader (GL) and Section Leader centric"—a model we've relied on for a long time. While our leaders are dedicated, this structure is no longer sustainable.
When behind-the-scenes roles go unfilled, it's our Leaders who step in to fill the gaps, which takes critical time away from program planning and youth engagement.
To continue delivering the high-quality, adventurous experience your child deserves, we must share the load. A successful Scout Group relies on a strong, supportive Committee of parents to manage the essentials.
This is a formal and friendly call to action.
We invite you to join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, at 5:30pm at Morpeth scout hall.
This is not just a compliance meeting; it is the primary forum for every family to decide how they can contribute to the success and sustainability of our Group for the next 12 months.
At the AGM on May 18th, we will:
1. Celebrate / Recap the fantastic achievements of our Scouts and Leaders over the past year.
2. Plan and Discuss our strategic focus, budget, and key activities for the coming year.
3. Review Our Structure This is the moment to shift our operations to a more shared and sustainable model. We will be presenting updated, simplified 'one-page' job descriptions for critical Committee roles, outlining exactly what is involved.
**Our Immediate 'Home Front' Needs:**
To make this sustainable shift successful, we must find parents to 'enlist' and share specific responsibilities.
Our most urgent requirement is a **Fundraising Lead.**
This role is essential to our financial stability. **If we cannot find a parent or small team to lead our fundraising efforts, we will be forced to choose the alternative: raising our Group fees significantly to cover operational costs.
** This is a direct choice that only we as a community can make.
The AGM on May 18th is your chance to voice your preference and find a small, defined way to contribute. By volunteering for a role like a simplified
**Group President**,
**Secretary**,
**Fundraising Lead**,
you directly allow our leaders to focus 100% on delivery for your kids.
A little help from many hands ensures we can keep scouting affordable and impactful.
We look forward to seeing every family represented on May 18th and working together to shape the next 12 months for our group.
Yours in Scouting,
Brad Tombleson (Hathi) / Cub Leader
