So some people have wanted to know where our hall came from, and our records have been a little patchy as to how and where the original building came from.
Thanks to a member of the maitland historical society here is some info for those history buffs wanting to know more about our "original" hall.

Scout Troop
After a delay of two years
the old Morpeth Golf Club
House which was purchased as
a scout hall for East Maitland
scout was shifted to its new
site last week-end.
The building has been placed
on a site Stockade Hill.
Fathers of the scouts and
cubs have volunteered their
services in the remodelling of
the building
Committee members will
supply refreshments for the
volunteers.
The building was purchased
at auction two years ago for
£545. It was to have been
removed within a month but
delay in negotians for a
suitable block of land prevent
ed this.
The building was moved last
Sunday in a three-hour opera
tion. Cost of removal was
£195.
The scout committee thanks
Maitland City Council for its
co-operation, Mr Arthur How
arth, M.L.A., Morpeth Golf
Club, members of the Lands
Department, Mr. R. Baker, for
donation of bricks, Mr. O. Fos
ter, for transporting skillions
for the hall, and all who have
assisted finacially or other
wise.
The scout troops have been
very active since the Pan-Paci
fic Jamboree, which the East
Maitland scouts attended.
Bush Outing
The land scouts have ex
panded their activities under
Acting Scoutmaster B. Jones
and Acting Assisting Scout
master R. Rudkin.
Sea Scouts have been for
tunate in gaining two new
scouters, Acting Scoutmaster
D. Love and Acting Assistant
Scoutmaster N. Mudd.
The land scouts have had
quite a few bush outings, in
cluding one last Sunday to
Buttai.
Older sea scouts and their
sconters have been attending
the training camps, Weatsons,
at Belmont, training for their
boat charge certification.
Cubs, under Cubmaster G.
Waller, should get new life
when they move into their
new club house.
Patrol leaders of the two
troops will attend a district
training camp at Scout
Haven, near Kurri, on Febru
ary 14 and 15. The sea
scouts will continue their
training this week-end at
Waeroona.
On February 21 and 22 the
two troops will hold a com
bined camp at Vacy on a com
petitive basis.
A new section of the troup
is being formed under Group
Scoutmaster R. A. Moore.
This will be a senior scout
section for boys from 15 to
18 years.
Boys wishing to became a
member of any section can do
so by attending a meeting
with other scouts or contact
ing the scouters in charge.
