BMA CQ Rescue

It made our day to welcome back former patient Ethan, who popped into the base to say hello!

Ethan’s journey with us began back in 2023 following a workplace incident, when our team flew him to Townsville for urgent medical care.

We absolutely love it when our past patients drop by to see us and Ethan got the chance to catch up with Abdul, the pilot who flew him that day. 🧡💙

A heartfelt thank you to the Resources Centre of Excellence for turning recycling into a meaningful way to support BMA CQ Rescue and the community we proudly serve! 💙♻️

♻️ Recycling with a local impact.

The Resources Centre of Excellence has introduced a dedicated recycling bin onsite for eligible cans and plastic bottles.

Once collected, the proceeds from these containers will be donated to BMA CQ Rescue, helping support an important local service while encouraging more recycling across our facility.

A small action that can make a meaningful difference. 💚

🚁 Another busy week for the BMA CQ Rescue crew, supporting patients across the region and beyond.

Our team responded to:

▪️A near-drowning incident at Hardy Reef Pontoon, winching a male patient and transporting him to Mackay Base Hospital.
▪️Multiple cardiac-related tasks from Emerald and Bowen to Mackay.
▪️A horse fall near Proserpine, transporting a patient to Mackay Base Hospital.
▪️A child and mother from Hamilton Island, with the child requiring assessment for a suspected chest infection.
▪️Tasked to Owens Creek following an incident involving a patient who sustained burns. The patient was treated by the BMA CQ Rescue team before being transported by road to Mackay Base Hospital.

The team also completed a test landing and take-off at the newly refurbished Mackay Base Hospital helipad, an important step towards the helipad becoming operational and the return of aeromedical retrievals to Mackay Base Hospital. 💙
