At Chances House every dollar is directed towards our mission of supporting people experiencing homelessness in our local community.
Our team works tirelessly to provide practical assistance, healthcare access, referrals, meals, outreach, advocacy & connection to services that help people rebuild their lives.

Our CEO & staff are not here for personal gain. They are passionate people who have dedicated themselves to serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Like many not-for-profit leaders across Australia, they work long hours, wear multiple hats & continually seek ways to stretch every donated dollar as far as possible.

While different organisations may have different approaches, we believe there is room for everyone who genuinely wants to help. What matters most is that people in need receive support, dignity & hope.

🌭 Calling All Local Butchers, Coles, Woolworths & Generous Businesses!

To help us continue safely providing meals to vulnerable members of our community, Chances House is currently seeking support through donations of sausages, meat & BBQ supplies sourced directly from registered businesses such as local butchers, Coles, Woolworths or other food suppliers.

To ensure we remain compliant with food safety & health regulations, we are only able to accept commercially supplied Meat products that have been correctly stored, handled & are within use-by dates.

Your support helps us provide warm meals, connection & care to people experiencing homelessness in Mackay.

Chances House Mackay was established to address the growing crisis of homelessness within the Mackay community. 💙

Increasing numbers of individuals & families were falling through gaps in traditional support systems, often unable to access basic necessities such as food, safe shelter, healthcare, hygiene facilities & connection to support services.
Many people experiencing homelessness face complex challenges including mental health struggles, trauma, domestic violence, financial hardship, addiction & social exclusion.

Through meals, emergency relief, healthcare support, volunteer engagement & partnerships with local organisations, Chances House creates a safe & inclusive environment where vulnerable individuals feel seen, supported & valued.

We’re so excited to share some wonderful news!

Chances House has been successful in receiving a $5,000 Grant from Glencore Coal Australia 🙌

This funding will go directly towards our Homelessness Meal Service, helping us continue to provide warm, nutritious meals & a safe space for connection for those in our community experiencing homelessness.

A huge thank you to Glencore who continue to support our cause here locally.

& as always, thank you to our incredible community...we couldn’t do this without you.

Do you enjoy connecting with people, being part of the community & making a real difference?

Chances House is currently looking for a friendly, reliable volunteer to assist our Fundraising Team with a monthly stall at the Mackay Farmers Market at Bluewater Quay.

🗓 Once a month – Wednesdays
⏰ 6:30am – 10:30am
📍 Mackay Farmers Market, Bluewater Quay
Volunteer duties may include:
💙 Engaging with the local community
💙 Promoting Chances House services & events
💙 Accepting donations & support
💙 Raising awareness around homelessness in Mackay

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, build confidence & help support some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

A $2 million investment from the Crisafulli Government is helping strengthen homelessness support services across Mackay and the Whitsundays💙

This includes $1 million for Chances House, a vital local drop-in centre providing meals, referrals and support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

For the team at Chances House, this support means they can better meet growing demand and, for the first time since their establishment, deliver services in a safer and more sustainable way.

Six additional homelessness services across the region will also receive funding — helping more people get the support they need, when they need it most.

HELP US HELP OTHERS ❤️

Right now, many people in our local community are doing it incredibly tough. With the rising cost of living and the ongoing rental crisis, more people than ever are struggling to make ends meet — and sadly, their beloved pets are struggling too.

Whenever possible, Mackay Pet Rescue Inc. believes in giving back to the community that supports us.

Thanks to a recent grant, we have been able to purchase much needed tents, sleeping bags and essential items for people sleeping rough. We have also been invited to attend Men’s Week on June 10, where we will be providing warm clothing, personal care packs, pet food and pet supplies to those in need.

Now we are asking our wonderful community to help us make an even bigger difference.

We are currently collecting donations of:
• Toothpaste and toothbrushes
• Deodorant
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Soap and body wash
• Face washers
• Hand sanitiser
• Sanitary items
• Wet wipes
• Socks and warm clothing
• Pet food and treats
• Pet coats, leads and other pet items in clean, good condition

All donations can be placed in any clearly labelled MPRI donation bins.

For many people doing it tough, their pet is their only family, their comfort and their reason to keep going. Sometimes a small act of kindness can mean the world to someone who feels forgotten.
