🏉 Big win for local sport! 🏉

Mackay Regional Council is proud to team up with the Crisafulli Government to deliver new female changerooms at Mackay District Rugby League grounds – with $500,000 matched funding to bring it to life. 💪

These modern amenities will support women’s league (junior and senior) across BB Print Stadium and Mackay District Rugby League – and include fully accessible facilities for all-abilities teams too.

With women’s sport participation on the rise across Mackay, this investment is all about making it easier for more women and girls to get in the game – and stay in it. 🙌

Great news - Pioneer Swimming Pool 🏊🏊‍♂️

Council has engaged a specialist contractor to install new earthing infrastructure beneath the pool’s concrete, ensuring the facility meets current Australian safety standards.

These works begin this week and, weather permitting, the pool is expected to reopen in the second week of August.

🚧 Great news - Pioneer Pool solution coming soon 🚧

Council has engaged a specialist contractor to install new earthing infrastructure beneath the pool’s concrete, ensuring the facility meets current Australian safety standards.

These works begin this week and, weather permitting, the pool is expected to reopen in the second week of August.

Ergon has also isolated a council-owned switch board in a nearby park, identified during their investigation following reports of minor electrical tingles from swimmers.

Safety is our top priority and the pool will only reopen once authorities formally confirm it is safe for everyone.

We thank the community and the Pioneer Swimming Club for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience during this extended closure. 💙🏊‍♂️

The Reportable Conduct Scheme is a critical improvement in the way we protect children and young people from harm, and one of the biggest changes in safeguarding in Queensland’s history. For it to succeed, we all need to work together. Everyone has a responsibility to report harm to children, and organisations have the responsibility to put systems in place to enable that to happen
