CWA Leura Branch

This week at Monday craft, in the spirit of broadening the craft experiences of Leura Branch members, we started making needle-felted brooches.
For most of those attending, it was their very first experience with this craft, but they all did very well.
We were also delighted to be joined for morning craft by a VIP guest: Betty, the grand daughter of one of our members. She was the star of the morning, making a lovely landscape-themed brooch for her mum for Mother's Day.
Here Is a selection of pics of the brooches at various stages in the process including one of a very proud Betty showing off her creation.
Members took their brooches home to complete them with embellishments.
Can't wait to see how they turn out!

This morning Leura branch members started making leather bookmarks under the guidance of experienced leather worker / branch member Helen Stevens. They will be finished off next week. Well done to all who attended.

Here's just one of the sets of little angels we made at craft this week and they are just itching to spend Christmas at your home this holidays.
Just drop into our Christmas market on the 6th December (9am to 4pm) and a set or two of these girls could be winging it home with you to adorn your tree.
We will have lots of handmade decorations, gifts and yummy food on offer for you to buy and you can get that feel-good Christmassy spirit knowing that the money from your purchases will go to worthy causes.

We had a good rollup for Leura Branch's AGM this morning and all but one position were filled.
Many thanks to Kathleen Wanderer for hosting us at her home today while our building is having its floor replaced.
Also a big 'thank you' to Blackheath Branch's President, Kathryn Hibbert, for conducting our elections.
Here are the new officers for 2026: (L to R) Lorna Nelson (Secretary), Rosemary French (Treasurer), Gail Lipscombe (Vice-President, Handicraft, Publicity), Kerry Simpson (Vice-President, Assistant Treasurer, Cultural, Delegate to Group), Roslyn Ward (Ag & Env), Helen Stevens (Delegate to Group), Glenis Stofberg (International), and front and centre, our irrepressible leader, Lesley Shanley (President, Social Issues and Welfare).
