We are extremely happy to announce that we have recently been able to fund the much needed repairs for Coleenโs accesible van. These repairs were necessary to allow Coleen to maintain her independence within the community. Along with these expensive repairs, these funds also allowed for the complicated instalment of a tow hitch, which will allow her the ability to transport her mountain bike and get back on the track ๐ตโโ๏ธ
This highlights the incredible support within our community and gets us excited for the upcoming charity day at the Kurri Kurri Sportsground on the 30th of May. More to come, much love.
โI am a keen mountain bike rider who sustained a catastrophic injury during a ride, resulting in a T4 spinal cord injury and paraplegia. Since the accident, I have faced significant and ongoing physical and mental health challenges as I adapt to life with a permanent disability.
Accessing medical appointments, rehabilitation, and everyday activities has been extremely difficult due to my mobility limitations. Reliable and accessible transport is essential for me to attend ongoing medical and therapy appointments and to reconnect with daily life beyond my home.
Vehicle modifications have been vital in enabling me to travel independently, reduce my reliance on others, and regain a sense of autonomy. Being able to leave the house more easily has had a profound impact on my mental health, social connection, and overall wellbeing as I continue my recovery and adjustment.
The assistance I have received for these vehicle modifications has made a meaningful difference in my life. I cannot thank Stand for Spinal enough โ their support has truly made a world of difference to me.โ
