Lions are still doing their bit to help the needy hungry - each Friday at the Cessnock Uniting Church kitchen we provide a free sausage sizzle, sweets and cuppa with a chance for social interaction in a friendly space. Open 10:30am-1pm each Friday.

Well done also 👍 to the various other groups that similarly help out with meals on various other days. see the list maintained by Samaritans

Thankyou to Cessnock East Public School for your special recognition of the value of the EatUp program.
Cessnock Lions Club is proud to be the local "preparer and deliverer" of the Eat Up Australia funded sandwiches each 3 weeks during school term to four Cessnock schools.
So glad to hear that the service is so highly appreciated

Pleased to hear from Cessnock Council's Road Safety Officer, Alison Shelton at our recent dinner. She gave all of us reminders of road rules that have changed since the days when many of our driving members received their licences a long time ago.
A booklet is available explaining "The Top 10 misunderstood road rules in NSW"
Of particular interest to our older drivers preparing for future driving tests and some points to ponder prior to eventually downgrading or relinquishing their driving licence. The booklet "The Road Ahead" is available and has some useful tips making safer choices.

Ironically, the guest speaker was formally thanked by our youngest Lions member

The 2025-26 end of year Changeover dinner for Cessnock Lions Club was recently held at ECBC Sports . In toasting Lions Clubs International, Daniel Watton - Mayor of Cessnock particularly praised the efforts of our club under outgoing President Ian Anderson and looks forward to new initiatives under incoming 2026-27 President Peter Conroy.

In addition to the installation of the new year's Board, two new members, Jamie & Dirk, were inducted into the Lions Club, Peter Conroy was made a Melvin Jones Fellow, Peter Torenbeek was awarded Lion of the Year, and a special Appreciation Award was presented to Neil & Kimberley of Sahara Mei's Family Bistro for their service to our club over many years.

During the year, the club's members are proud to have contributed almost 1500 community service hours over many projects and also raised and disbursed $21000 to worthy causes and projects.

President Ian accepted an Appreciation Certificate for our club's assistance at the previous Cessnock Walks Kawuma and passed on our willingness to assist again this year on November 26th.
