The Westernport Catchment Landcare Network (WPCLN) is a community based network that aims, through community action, to help preserve, protect and enhance the environment of Westernport Catchment by working with Landcare groups, private landholders, government agencies and local businesses to achieve sustainable natural resource management outcomes. Landcare projects include establishment of indigenous plants, protective fencing, extensive w**d and feral animal control, community education on biodiversity and a host of land management issues and wildlife monitoring. The Westernport Catchment Landcare Network is a not-for-profit organisation. History
The WPCLN covers approximately 2100 square kilometres across the Baw Baw, Cardinia and City of Casey Shires. Our Network has evolved from an original four Landcare groups to fourteen groups scattered across the catchment from Pearcedale in the south west across to Lang Lang in the south east and Harkaway to Nayook in the north and Westernport Bay in the south. Since 1999 we have completed hundreds of on ground projects in partnership with landholders, various government agencies and local government.

More on our Facilitators:
Jack Harris began working with Bass Coast Landcare Network in 2021 after making the move from Melbourne. Having completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at Deakin University, he was thrilled to join the team. Jack is now an Invasive Species Officer and is committed to protecting Victoria’s native flora and fauna, as well as agricultural industry from the destructive impacts of introduced pest species. Jack has been a Mentor with VRAN since 2025 and is devoted to spreading VRAN’s message and best practice rabbit management to communities around Victoria.
Aaron Stevens works as Invasive Species Coordinator at Bass Coast Landcare Network as well as at the Victorian Rabbit Action Network as a Senior Mentor. Aaron has 7+ years of experience with on-ground pest animal control relating to rabbits, foxes, and feral cats primarily. Aaron’s passion in pest animal control led him to work closely with VRAN, attending several bootcamps and now running components of those same bootcamps. Equipped with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Aaron works in and around local environments to protect our threatened wildlife and ecosystems from introduced pests.

This week we enjoyed having Teale Simmons from Agresol - Regenerative Agriculture Consulting Australia talk to local farmers over 2 days on 'Transitioning to more regenerative practices profitably'. Farmer feedback was terrific with lots to think about and some new ideas to try! It was great to have you Teale!

We are very excited to have Teale Simmons coming to Gippsland!
Teale has an honours degree in Agriculture at the University of Sydney researching the effects of multispecies cover crops on soil microbes and soil health. He was an AgriFutures Australia Horizon scholar in 2023. Teale will talk on; Transitioning to more regenerative practices profitably & Understanding plant tissue analysis to make more informed decisions.
