Community breakfast this Friday with Gunya Meta Inc - All welcome!

💚💙🖤🤍 Community Breakfast Kinnections 💚💙🖤🤍

Join us for breakfast this Friday for a 'Floral Friday' celebration, in honour and recognition of Uncle Eddie Koiki Mabo and Mabo Day.

Floral Friday is a vibrant Torres Strait Islander cultural tradition where people wear floral clothing or accessories (like leis & hairpieces) on Fridays to celebrate island heritage. It promotes community joy, communication, and cultural awareness.

Uncle Eddie Koiki Mabo (1936-1992) is best known as the lead plaintiff in the landmark Mabo v Queensland (No.2) High Court Case. His 10-year legal battle successfully overturned the British doctrine of Terra Nullius (land belonging to no one), paving the way for the Native Title Act 1993 and officially recognising Indigenous land rights in Australia.

*** Please note our Community Breakfast Kinnections is now held at Ben Matthews Playground Centre (Amuputees QLD) every 1st Friday of the month! ***
