Yesterday, Village Connect held our Staff Development and Training Day.

We were blessed with a day of learning, growth, and connection, including:
• Cyber Security Training to strengthen our knowledge and protect our community.
• Making beautiful Ei Katu (flower headbands) with the talented Mama Helen, celebrating culture and creativity.

An amazing day of training, equipping, and investing in our team as we continue to grow and serve our community well. 🌺💙

Village Connect Celebrate Samoa Language Week!
The 2026 theme for Samoa Language Week is “‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le ‘nu’u - From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.”

Today we had our Community Talanoa and it was powerful to hear the voices of our Māori & Pasifika community — the needs, the struggles, and also the solutions that could help bring change and help our families flourish here in our new community away from home.

We were also blessed to have many services and organisations come to support, connect and share about the work happening in their spaces and workplaces. The work is too big for one person or one organisation to carry alone — we need a “wave of voices” working together for our people.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, share your stories and be part of the conversation. Your voice matters.

We will be holding a 2nd Talanoa soon, so watch this space for dates!

One important topic that came up today was the Census happening in August. Many of our families do not participate by filling out and returning the Census, and we want to help change that. We will be hosting a workshop to support our community to understand and complete the Census, and most importantly explain WHY it matters.

The Census helps count the population and gathers demographic, social and economic information that impacts:
• Funding allocations
• Electoral representation
• Infrastructure & urban planning
• Community services

It affects US and our future generations.

We will be sending out a flyer soon with details for our Census Night workshop.

“One voice can echo, but a united community
becomes a powerful wave of change”

Back by great demand we will be running another Holiday Program in the last week of the next school holidays — and it’s FREE! 🎉

Please note:
• Primary school aged children ONLY
• Due to current staffing ratios and the nature of our group-based program, we are best equipped to support children who are able to participate in group activities with minimal to moderate support.

We appreciate your understanding as we work within our staffing and safety capacity.
Registration is required to secure your child’s place by the QR code on poster.

You will receive an email confirming if your child has been accepted into the program.

Today we celebrated 6 years of Maternity & Child Health Hub Services at Village Connect 🤍

What a beautiful full-circle moment—seeing mums who birthed with us 6 years ago, right through to those who welcomed their pepe beginning of this year. Truly a reflection of growth, connection, and community.

We were also blessed to have some of our sponsors and wrap-around services join us in the celebration. Thank you for walking alongside us and supporting the journey.

These past 6 years have been filled with advocacy, gathering, learning, and deep community engagement. So many of our programs have been birthed from stories shared and voices heard—like our Lalaga Lounge, launching next month as a safe space for our mums to connect, talanoa, and be supported.

Grateful for how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead 🌺

It was a privilege to host staff from The Benevolent Society at our Pasifika Cultural Safety Training yesterday.

We look forward to strengthening outcomes for our communities as we continue to grow in insight and understanding of Pacific ways of being, knowing, and doing. 🌺

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Cultural Safety team — Dr Inez Fainga’a-Manu Sione, Shekinah Aloali’i, Irae Epa & Solo Collins — for sharing your wisdom and leadership.

Together, we are building safer, stronger, and more culturally connected spaces for all. 🤍
