🌺 Every Story Counts. Every Voice Matters. 🌺
Last Friday night, Village Connect was honoured to host our Australian Census 2026 Community Information Night, bringing together members of our Pasifika and Māori communities for an evening of learning, conversation and connection.
It was encouraging to see our people come together to learn more about the Census, ask thoughtful questions and openly share the opportunities, concerns and challenges facing our families and communities.
The conversations throughout the evening reminded us that the Census is about much more than numbers.
It's about ensuring our communities are seen, heard and represented.
When we complete the Census, we help create a clearer picture of who we are, where we live, the languages we speak, our cultures and the needs of our families. This information helps inform future planning and investment in services such as healthcare, education, transport, housing and community support.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such meaningful discussions.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Census team:
🌺 Nick Te Tana
🌺 Noataga Dana Aiolupotea
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, answering questions so openly and partnering with Village Connect to help our community better understand the Census and why every response matters.
A special thank you also goes to our amazing Village Connect staff and volunteers whose hospitality and commitment helped create such a warm, welcoming and successful evening.
📅 Remember: Census Night is Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
If you need help understanding the Census or completing your Census form, Village Connect is here to help. Please get in touch with our team—we'd be happy to support you.
Together, let's make sure our Pasifika and Māori communities are accurately represented.
Every person counts.
Every family counts.
Every community counts.
