Cub William's school is having a dress as your hobby fundraiser today.
He considered karate, soccer and piano before deciding on Scouts.
Great choice William!

What hobbies do you think your child would pick to go as?

On 4 September 1909, around 11,000 boys gathered at the Crystal Palace (London UK) for what became known as the first Scout “Jamboree”.
Among them were a group of girls in self-made uniforms, calling themselves “Girl Scouts”. Their presence helped prompt the establishment of the Girl Guides in 1910.

It’s amazing to look back at that moment and see how much Scouting has grown and changed over the past 117 years.

Today, Scouts Australia is a movement for everyone.
Whether you’re a Joey, Cub, Scout, Venturer, Rover or an adult volunteer, there’s a place for you, regardless of gender, background, ability or experience.

The uniform may have changed, the activities have evolved, and the movement looks very different from 1909, but the heart of Scouting remains: adventure, friendship, learning by doing, leadership and giving back to our communities.

What an incredible journey.

Scouts is for everyone. Everyone has a place. Everyone can belong.

On Sunday at Bunnings Mornington the Barbie was busy, with our BBQ Masters keeping the snags coming at an impressive rate!
Meanwhile, our Scouts were hard at work taking orders, calculating change, fetching drinks, assembling the goods and generally keeping the adults organised, like the strong leaders they are becoming!

We shared plenty of laughs with a fantastic stream of people stopping by to support Howrah Scout Group.

Did you come visit us and grab a snag or drink?
We’re thrilled to say that we exceeded our fundraising target! The funds raised will go towards supporting our youth members to participate in outdoor and adventurous activities, getting them outdoors, learning new skills, challenging themselves and having some pretty great adventures along the way.
Quick math tells us we might be able to purchase an inReach device to ensure the safety of our youth and leaders on trips and excursions.

A HUGE thank you to our Committee, everyone who volunteered their time including our Scouts who got stuck in and worked brilliantly, and to everyone who stopped for a snag, a drink or a chat.

And, of course, a massive thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia (Mornington) for giving local community groups like ours the opportunity to raise much-needed funds.

Thank you from everyone at Howrah Scout Group!
