Quilts for Orphans

Quilts for Orphans QFO is an ongoing labour of love providing our fabric ‘hugs’ both locally and globally where needed. Making the decision was the easy bit.

Visit our blog at qfoblog.com and our website at quiltsfororphans.org Each month, fifteen to twenty women gather together to continue their efforts in providing orphans with quilts. Initially, being told that orphans in India simply slept on the floor, they decided they would do something about it. Fulfilling it is task of mammoth proportions. The number of organisation that are now supported with

our quilts has grown to include.....

- Free To Be Kids Orphanages in Calcutta – for children rescued from abusive situations
- New Hope Foundation in China – preparing babies and children for adoption
- China Kidz – rescuing unwanted babies, some of whom are very sick
- International China Concern – who care for disabled children
- Lola Orphanage in Ethiopia – for orphans with HIV/Aids
- Zoe Hope Foundation in Zambia – for very young girls (some as young as 12) who have been r***d and left pregnant
- Quilts also to Discovery Community Care in Mt Evelyn

So far the number of quilts sent is in excess of 1,500! Quilts are safely delivered in person by volunteers traveling to work in the various locations.

A gentle reminder that tomorrow, June 13th, is our Saturday monthly gathering at the Hall in Hoddles Creek. We will be using our walking feet and a truckload of enthusiasm to do all things ‘Quilty’. See you then.

Bring a small plate of something tasty to share at tea break if you can. 🤗

May Gathering Day is coming up this Saturday (9th).
We will continue to work on quilting and finishing off quilts for Life’s Little Treasures.

If you have a walking foot with your sewing machine, bring it along! We have several machines at the hall with walking feet, but if you can bring your machine along, that would be great.

The kettle will be on, please bring along your lunch and if you can, a small plate of something to share for morning tea.

The WHYLD Mother’s Day Minimarket is also on this Saturday from 12 – 3pm at the Sydney Halbish Hall, 22 Old Dalry Road, Don Valley. We have some QFO quilts on display that are also available for purchase.

And here are some quilts that will be going to Monash New Born Unit - to cover the isolettes for the premmie babes. 🤗

We will be using our machine walking feet on Saturday April 11th to quilt 100-day quilts for Life’s Little Treasures. If you have a walking foot with your sewing machine, bring them along! We have several machines at the hall with walking feet, but if you can bring your machine along, that would be great.

We also have potato chip blocks waiting in the wings for more action, too and we will be sorting and packing quilts for gifting to Monash and RCH!

The kettle will be on, please bring along your lunch and if you can, a small plate of something to share for morning tea.
