INTERACT is a youth theatre organisation offering after school drama classes for ages 6-16 years in Gympie, Australia. Drama classes are based on student centred learning using theatre games, masks, improvisation and all the fun stuff of theatre. This nurtures self awareness, confidence and empathy. When students face an audience to offer their creations, they can be confident. This positive perfo

rmance experience builds self-esteem and self-worth. Students share ideas and it's appreciated, making it a creative collaboration. Student Centred Learning allows freedom to express both positive and negative feelings within a class allowing students to work through these feelings building group empathy. Students learn that they have a responsibility for their own learning journey as they become more of a participant in a group. They become more confident and will take risks knowing that their peers will understand and not criticise. The heart of Student Centred Learning is self awareness, the learning is the experience of doing.
