Lena brings over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare and community services, and a deeply held conviction that outstanding care is built on people — the teams who show up every day with skill, compassion, and purpose. Most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer at St Bart's for eight years, Lena built a reputation for getting alongside frontline and support staff, championing cultures of kindness and respect, and delivering meaningful, lasting change for the communities she serves. She holds an MBA and a strong foundation in health and aged care — but it is her unwavering commitment to dignity in ageing, person-centred care, and listening before leading that truly defines her approach.

As CEO of Astley Care, Lena's vision is clear: to strengthen and celebrate the remarkable work already happening across our organisation, and to ensure every staff member, client, and community partner feels genuinely valued and heard. She believes the best ideas come from the people closest to the work — and she is here to champion exactly that.

We are excited about the future Lena will help us build. Please join us in welcoming her to the Astley Care family.

Wishing everyone a heartfelt and happy Mother’s Day.

Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and care that mothers bring into the world.

We also know this day can be tender for many — for those who have lost their mum, those who are missing someone special, and those whose relationships are complicated. We are holding you in our thoughts too.

However you spend today, may it offer you comfort, meaningful connection, and moments of peace or joy.

You are part of our community, and you matter.

Healthy ageing is something we see in action every day at Astley Care, in the people who stay active in their homes, stay connected to their community, and stay engaged in the moments that matter most.
From social outings to transport, home support, gardening, and wellness activities, our teams walk alongside people as they build the habits and connections that support long-term wellbeing.
That’s why we’re proud to support National Healthy Ageing Day. The theme, “Keep doing what matters,” reflects our commitment to helping older people live well, with choice, dignity, and independence.

Easter Greetings from the team at Astley Care! We wish you all a restful long weekend.

With 2026 feeling uncertain in so many ways, we hope you find a little extra calm in the small things—good company, fresh air, and time to recharge.

Sending joy and peace to you and your loved ones —may the days ahead be brighter, kinder, and a bit lighter to carry.

Recognising the Many Traditions Held This Week

This week has been a meaningful one for many people in our community. Colleagues and clients have been marking Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Lent, each in their own way, often quietly, and often without drawing attention to themselves. What stands out is how many different traditions can sit side by side in the same workplace, each carrying its own rhythm, discipline, and significance.

Chinese New Year has brought moments of renewal, family connection, and cultural pride. Ramadan has asked people to balance fasting, prayer, and deep reflection with the normal pace of work. Lent has invited others into small acts of discipline or sacrifice that aren’t always visible to those around them. None of these commitments look the same, but they all require intention, energy, and emotional focus.

What I’ve noticed is that people rarely ask for special treatment. Most simply adjust their routines quietly, earlier starts, different break times, changes to food habits, or a little more fatigue at certain points in the day. These are small signals that can be easy to miss unless we’re paying attention.

Inclusion, in moments like this, isn’t about knowing every detail of every tradition. It’s about being aware that these commitments exist and showing respect through practical choices: flexible scheduling, mindful planning around food, space for prayer or reflection, and a willingness to check in rather than assume.

When we notice these things, we send a clear message, that people don’t have to set aside who they are to participate fully here. Culture is shaped in these small decisions. It’s the quiet, intentional acts of respect that make people feel seen and supported.

At Astley Care, we support individuals to live in the way they choose.
