The National Recreational Fishing Conference “Casting Towards Tomorrow, Keeping Australia Fishing” in August 2012 will be one of the most significant events on the Australian recreational fishing calendar. This important and exciting event will provide a forum where discussions can take place to chart a course for a vibrant future for recreational fishing in Australia. The national conference will
include presentations from keynote speakers including luminaries within the recreational fishing industry and industry experts from Australia and overseas, to provide a fascinating insight into some of the issues and opportunities we face. Delegates will also be involved in practical and interesting workshops throughout the event, to share information, learn and become better anglers. The conference will form part of a full week of events and activities relating to recreational fishing, including a fishing tournament pro-am and trade show, all in one place on the beautiful Gold Coast. The destination, timing and focus of the national conference was determined through a pre-conference survey of recreational fishers nationally. This helps to ensure that the conference is engaging, interesting, well attended and successful. This important conference has been made possible through co-investment from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) as part of the Recreational Fishing Industry Development Strategy. The National Recreational Fishing Conference is a joint venture between Recfish Australia and the Australian Fishing Trade Association.
