It has been brought to our attention that fake pages and groups are circulating online, advertising dogs for adoption that may not be legitimately available.

Sadly, due to their nature and popularity, Cavaliers are often used to attract interest from unsuspecting adopters.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to ensure they are engaging with legitimate and reputable rescue organisations.

🚩 Some warning signs to be aware of:
• Requests for large upfront “adoption fees”
• Payment asked for before any application, interview, or meet and greet
• Communication limited to WhatsApp or Messenger only
• Claims that dogs can be “shipped” for a fee

Reputable rescues will always prioritise the welfare of their dogs and follow a thorough, transparent adoption process.

✅ At Cavalier Rescue QLD, and other responsible rescues:
• We do not request payment upfront
• You will always meet the dog (and us) as part of the process
• We do not conduct adoptions via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger
• We follow a detailed process including applications, conversations, and checks
• We are committed to ensuring every dog is matched with a safe and suitable home

If you are ever unsure, we’re always happy to confirm whether you are speaking with us.

Please take care when engaging with posts offering quick or “guaranteed” adoptions — if something feels too good to be true, it’s worth taking a closer look.

❤️ Kingsley Update ❤️

Firstly, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared Kingsley’s story, sent messages of support, and kept him in their thoughts. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown by our rescue community and beyond!

We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane and Dr Jared for the incredible care Kingsley is receiving. Knowing he is in such experienced hands gives us hope during what has been a very difficult time.

Kingsley is currently resting comfortably following his surgery and has already begun physiotherapy. While he is still dealing with significant bruising and swelling around his spinal cord, there are some encouraging signs. He continues to have sensation in his feet, which is something we are very grateful for.

At this stage there is no movement in his hind legs yet, but it is still very early in his recovery. As the swelling reduces over the coming days, we remain hopeful that we will begin to see small signs of nerve function returning.

Recovery from an injury like this takes time, patience, and ongoing specialist care, but Kingsley is a fighter and we are taking things one day at a time.

48 hours ago, Kingsley was walking. Today, he isn’t.

At just 3 years old, Kingsley suffered a sudden IVDD episode. A ruptured disc in his spine put pressure on his spinal cord, leaving him unable to walk and in urgent need of treatment.

It happened so quickly.

One moment he was fine, and the next... His back legs stopped working.

Scans confirmed how serious it was, and surgery became his best chance at preventing permanent damage.

Last night Kingsley underwent emergency spinal surgery to relieve that pressure and (hopefully) give him the ability to walk again.

It was a decision that had to be made immediately, and one we couldn’t say no to.

The surgery alone is over $12,000, with ongoing costs ahead for his care, medication, and the long process of rehabilitation.

We are feeling the weight of this.

He is still so young, and he doesn’t understand why he can’t get up.

We’re doing everything we can to give him a chance at recovery but we can’t do it alone.

We had something exciting planned to share with you all… and we know many of you have been waiting to hear our “secret.”

But sometimes, rescue has other plans.

In the past 24 hours we’ve been faced with an unexpected and deeply heartbreaking situation involving one of our own, a beautiful young boy named Kingsley. It has been an incredibly tough time for our team, with some very difficult decisions needing to be made quickly to give him the best chance to live a normal, pain-free life.

Because of this, we’ll be postponing our upcoming announcement. Right now, our focus needs to be where it matters most, on Kingsley and the urgent care he now needs.

It’s been a challenging year, with several of our dogs requiring specialist care and surgeries we simply didn’t anticipate. Like many rescues, we’re feeling the strain of increasing veterinary costs, but moments like this remind us exactly why we do what we do.

Kingsley needs us, and he needs his community behind him.

We’ll be sharing more about his story very soon, including what’s happened, what lies ahead, and how you can help give him the future he deserves.

For now, we ask you to keep him in your thoughts, send your love, and stand with us as we prepare to fight for this very special boy. 🐾

Drum Roll !!!!!!

We did it, we were the successful winners of the local matters promotion at Grill’d Robina, all thanks to our wonderful supporters.

We will be receiving $300 which will assist with our fundraising to help the dogs that come into our care.
