Yalari Educating Indigenous children and nurturing Indigenous leadership across Australia. Join us in driving generational change.

From secondary school to professional life, we partner with families to help students shape their own futures. Yalari’s Mission is to educate and empower Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities to bring about generational change. Our Vision is to provide trusted, quality educational opportunities for Indigenous children to achieve positive outcomes for themselves and their

families and make a valuable contribution as Australians. It takes a whole community to educate a child and Yalari brings together stakeholders who provide the financial and in-kind support that enable us to create educational opportunities and outcomes for Indigenous children. Our Core Values of Respect, Compassion, Resilience, Openness, Inclusiveness and Excellence are at the heart of our expectations and guide our behaviour. As a Not-for-Profit organisation, Yalari seeks funding from corporate bodies, philanthropic trusts and foundations, private benefactors and government. Yalari aims to provide programs that will bring about generational change by giving Indigenous children the opportunity for a first class education through full boarding scholarships at some of the highest achieving secondary schools in Australia. We currently have over 200 students enrolled in 20 boarding schools around Australia.

Proud moment for Yalari students Isaac (Gunaikurnai) and Ruben (Bundjalung) who shared their creativity and cultural knowledge in the design of Geelong Grammar School's sports uniforms for the APS Sport Reconciliation Round.

Together, the design invites reflection and learning, guided by culture and connection.

Students from St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, Clayfield College, and Somerville House recently joined our Student Support Team for a painting and weaving cultural workshop.

Led by Steven Bekue from Bundjalung Dreaming, the workshop provided a meaningful creative experience that supported students to connect with culture, Country and their own storytelling. It created space for reflection and deepened students’ understanding in a respectful and engaging way.

It highlighted the important role culture, connection and community play in supporting student wellbeing 💛

Twenty years. Many stories.

Our 2025 Annual Review is here 📘

“What we’ve learned since 2005 is that education doesn’t move in straight lines – it moves in circles and loops. Our students are already leaders in motion. Leadership doesn’t suddenly arrive at graduation – it builds steadily over time. Today, Yalari alumni are educators, artists, health professionals, lawyers, tradespeople, business owners, and community leaders. Many are now raising families of their own, mentoring others, and giving back in ways that quietly reshape what's possible for the next generation.” ~Waverley Stanley AM, Founding Director

👣 Walking Together: 20 Years of Yalari holds the stories of how Yalari students and alumni are defining success on their own terms. Read at 🔗 www.yalari.org/publications/annual-review

Peter Stafford went to school with Yalari’s Founder Waverley Stanley, and he, along with other Toowoomba Grammar School Old Boys are supporting scholarships for the next generation of Yalari students at TGS.

One of the other ways Peter contributes is through his volunteer role as a Regional Council member, where he introduces new people and supporters to Yalari, with the end goal of helping Yalari operate in perpetuity.

“After watching Yalari grow year on year, enabling the regional Indigenous youth of Australia, it has been highly enjoyable to be a Northern Regional Council member these past four years. I have found that the energy around the Regional Council inspires you to be bold, try different approaches, leverage each other's skill sets and to proactively reach out to your broader well established external networks." ~Peter Stafford, Director - Balanz

This , we thank Peter and all of our dedicated volunteers who support Yalari in many and varied ways. We invite you to make 2026 your year to volunteer. Discover how you can walk with us at https://www.yalari.org/volunteer/

This , we recognise the people walking alongside Yalari students and families 💛

Sharing skills and time supports the relational model of our community, a commitment that sustains students through their six-year journey of secondary education.

Volunteers help close the distance between potential and opportunity. See how you can walk with us at https://www.yalari.org/volunteer/

"I was really fortunate to be selected to speak at the 2026 Youth Summit ... my passion for education and advocacy has been shaped by my journey with Yalari." ~Charli Jones, Yalari Alumna🎓

With a strong sense of culture and ambition, Charli is now using her voice on national stages to advocate for stronger mentorship and support for First Nations students. Currently undertaking a Bachelor of Laws/Psychological Science at ACU, she continues to show what’s possible when students define their own success.

This journey is made possible through our partnership with Enegen Field Solutions.

Last Thursday in , I dared our guests to stretch further.

2 Bens and 1 David and sons
2 Jazs
2 brave girls from Darwin, Lois and Samirah
A room full of generous, kind and committed guests

And two CORRIE Award winners: congrats Jet and Lailani.

I dare the Yalari students, at a very young age, to graduate Year 12. To create lives beyond self-determination and towards freedom. And ultimately, a nation we're all proud of.

Thank you for joining us for another night of celebration, truth, stories, great company, good food and wine, and hope.
