Busy afternoon today with the windy conditions. Firstly helping Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade with an escaped permit burn from the previous day and then a willow tree alight along the main MIL channel with the support of Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade.

This serves as a reminder to all landowners to thoroughly extinguish agricultural burns, especially prior to unfavorable conditions in the following days.

Please remember to report any unattended fires only. Stay safe everyone

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Sunday, 25 January for the Eastern Riverina and Monaro Alpine areas. Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger.

Be ready to act. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

For more information on Total Fire Ban rules, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr

This is great advice. And something that we reiterate on a regular basis

This is great advice. And something that we reiterate on a regular basis

Bushfire smoke is currently visible across many parts of Victoria.

Only call Triple Zero (000) if you see a flame or a defined column of smoke.

The smoke may impact air quality in your local area.

You can check air quality at epa.vic.gov.au/check-air-and-water-quality.

If you smell smoke, you should take steps to reduce your exposure. Learn more at www.epa.vic.gov.au/smoke-and-your-health -your-exposure-to-smoke

Good morning everyone. Hope we are all enjoying some cooler weather after the last few days intense heat. Our members yesterday had a few callouts with one mid afternoon west of town quickly under control running into previous Lucerne paddock pulling it up along with local farmers quick response. We had members also attend the fire at Yaroweyah both through the day and into the night. This fire continues to burn so take care if travelling that way.

Sirens went off again today. Luckily turned out to be a false alarm. Please only call 000 for an unattended fires.
The fire north of town is being patrolled regularly.
There is a large out of control (at this stage) fire at Yaroweyah with the smoke plume clearly visible from town. Please stay away from the affected area to allow emergency vehicles to do their job. Trucks from Barooga and Tocumwal have been deployed leaving both finley and Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade to cover most of the shire.
