A timely reminder that the weather is warming up. The grass may look green but it's dry underneath. This fire picked up after the winds whipped up a few weeks old pile burn overnight on Friday night, leaving 2 trees well alight.

With the Bush Fire Danger Period starting on the 1st November I would like to remind all landholders to fill in a Burn notification 24hrs prior to lighting.

Today we had a Firefighter prac Assessment day at Tocumwal with 4 brigades participating. A number of new recruits were put through their paces with all doing a great job and will be ready for the upcoming fire season. Congratulations to them all. Fire restrictions have come to an end and permits are no longer required for Rural landowners. It is still a legal requirement to notify of your burn with the RFS @ https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify and notify your neighbours 24hrs prior to lighting

Busy afternoon today with the windy conditions. Firstly helping Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade with an escaped permit burn from the previous day and then a willow tree alight along the main MIL channel with the support of Berrigan Rural Fire Brigade.

This serves as a reminder to all landowners to thoroughly extinguish agricultural burns, especially prior to unfavorable conditions in the following days.
