Round 5 of Life Saving Victoria’s IRB racing series at Port Fairy saw Elwood post fantastic results.
The team scored bronze in the Under-23s Women’s Mass and Masters Women’s Tube plus silver in the Masters Women’s Mass, Masters Women’s Rescue and Masters Men’s Mass.
In under-23s Elwood had teams in all but one final which was a great result.
For the open carnival the team achieved 2nd in the Relay, 3rd in the Women’s Mass, 4th in the Women’s Teams and 6th in Mixed Teams and Women’s Rescue.
Well done to all competitors and a huge thanks to our volunteer helpers without whose assistance the club could not compete.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and it feels impossible to put into words just how much our volunteers mean to Elwood Life Saving Club! ❤️

Our club would not be the beautiful and welcoming community it is without every single person who gives up their time to volunteer!

From flipping sausages at the BBQ, selling merchandise, age managing our nippers and putting on a water safety rashie… to braving the early mornings with a tube, board or IRB, coaching teams, officiating at carnivals, and patrolling weekends to keep our community safe.

To the people hosing down IRBs and nipper boards after long days, tinkering with motors behind the scenes, putting out cans before patrol or training, delivering and instructing training courses, providing first aid, and the committee members quietly doing countless hours of work no one else sees — we see you, and we appreciate you!

No contribution is too small! Every hour given, every early morning, every helping hand, every act of kindness strengthens this club and the community around it!

Volunteering is so much more than giving your time. It creates connection, mentorship, opportunities, friendships, safety and belonging. It is what makes clubs like ours feel like home.

To every volunteer at Elwood Life Saving Club…Thankyou! Your dedication, passion and care do not go unnoticed, and our club simply would not be what it is without you.

Happy National Volunteer Week! 💙❤️🤍

Last weekend saw our IRB team head up to Anglesea for Round 3 of the Victorian IRB season!

Despite the challenging conditions, our team put in an incredible effort, making multiple finals and taking out 1st place in the Men’s Masters Mass Rescue 🥇🎉

IRB racing is a great opportunity for our members to keep their skills sharp over the off season while building teamwork, experience and having plenty of fun along the way! 💪

A massive Thankyou to all of the volunteer officials who make racing possible 🙌🙌 and to for having us!

We are grateful to have joined today's Elwood Anzac Day ceremony to honour those how gave their lives in World War I and all wars to defend our values and freedom. Those tragically lost included members of our own club. Today, and every day, we pledge to honour their service and carry on the legacy founded 111 years ago. Lest we forget.

A massive congratulations to everyone who completed their Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate last weekend at Elwood Life Saving Club! 👏👏

For those who already held their Surf Rescue Certificate, this was a great opportunity for them to take part in Bronze Bridging, allowing them to upskill and build on their existing lifesaving knowledge.

As the final Bronze course of the season, we’d also like to say a huge thank you to our incredible volunteer trainers and assessors who work tirelessly to grow our lifesaving community and share their knowledge!

A big welcome to our 3 new Bronzies and 2 SRC’s 🎉 Red and Yellow sure looks good on you! ❤️💛

Swimming is currently not advised at Elwood due to poor water quality. We encourage all swimmers to check the EPA water quality updates before entering the water and make informed decisions.

While the flags are not currently up, our lifesavers are still actively patrolling the beach and are monitoring conditions to help keep all beach goers safe!
