Friday night the Joeys & Cubs slept over at the hall and then Saturday caught the Vline bus to Bendigo for a tour of the Central Deborah Gold Mine, returning by bus Saturday afternoon following a highly anticipated Macca’s lunch.

Overnight on our hike in Terrick Terrick National Park earlier this term, our scouts had the opportunity to stargaze, learn about constellations from both classic and indigenous astronomy, and had fun with long exposure photography and light painting.

They've since applied their astronomy skills on other camps and walks to find South using the Southern Cross and identify the constellations they recognise.

Earlier this term, our scouts participated in an overnight hike at Terrick Terrick National Park. They packed, slept and cooked lightweight, orienteered their way through unfamiliar territory, had fun stargazing in the evening, and were up early enough to see sunrise from the mountain. The knowledge they gained will be useful in upcoming hikes later in the year.

This week our Scouts learnt a new skill that's thousands of years old - rope making! With the help of one of our scout's parents, Allen, our youth made a stack of new ropes for the hall. These will be used by all sections in numerous activities, and we're very thankful to Allen for lending us his time, tools and expertise!

Our Scout section recently had the opportunity to try out CFA running - a fun, complex, challenging and historic sport. The scouts enjoyed demonstrations from CFA members, then had a wonderful time learning how to handle the hoses and hydrants themselves. A big thank you to Echuca CFA and volunteers Coach Col and Ben for showing us the ropes!
