This Wednesday night we are incredibly honoured to bring you Piyalbajarri - a collaboration between 92-year-old Thiinma Elder Peter Salmon and his friend, performer and linguist Rosie Sitorus.

If you love a good laugh, deep connections, and hearing about life on the land from a true Gascoyne stockman, this is exactly where you need to be. It’s relaxed, it’s funny, and it’s a brilliant way to spend an hour. Storytelling with the very last speaker of the critically endangered Thiinma language.

We have something truly special coming to the ArtsHouse this coming Wednesday.

Join us for 'Piyalbajarri', an unforgettable evening of songs and stories with 92-year-old Thiinma Elder, Mr Peter Salmon. As a former outback stockman and the very last living speaker of the Thiinma language, Mr Salmon is a Western Australian icon. Alongside his friend, linguist Rosie Sitorus, he’ll be sharing a beautiful, funny, and warm glimpse into his life and history.

Discover the joy of creating something beautiful with your own two hands. Join local Denmark maker Linda Scotti for a relaxing Mini Basket Weaving workshop at the Denmark ArtsHouse.

Learn the ancient craft of weaving to create your very own small basket, all while exploring our connection with the natural world. 🌿

This NAIDOC Week marks , celebrating, recognising and honouring the strength, resilience and achievements of First Nations peoples and cultures.

We acknowledge the Menang Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which Denmark Arts lives, creates and gathers, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

This year's National NAIDOC Week poster, Paralpi, by Zaachariaha Fielding, is a powerful celebration of movement, connection and continuity. Through vibrant colour and rich symbolism, the artwork carries the stories of Ancestors while celebrating the creativity and cultural strength of future generations.

The work speaks to storytelling as a living practice, one that continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to Country, culture and identity.

At Denmark Arts, we celebrate the arts as a powerful way to share stories, build understanding and honour the world's oldest continuing living cultures.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the remarkable work of First Nations artists during NAIDOC Week and beyond.
