Locals care passionately for Greens Pool — and with around 600,000 visitors in the past 12 months, that care has never been more important.

Gondwana Link’s latest Heartland Journeys story celebrates the people who dedicate their time to understanding and protecting this remarkable place and its biodiversity. Narrated by Nicole Hodgson and featuring the voices and stunning underwater photography of Bernard Wong, Tim Gamblin and Susan Hawson, it’s a beautiful encounter with the ‘Green Temple’.

As Bernard Wong reflects:
“When people get a connection with a place, the custodial feeling gets greater, and the more connection they have the more they want to look after it — and that’s the next level of custodianship we want.”

A thoughtful reflection on connection, care and custodianship of place 🌿

Greens Pool enriches the lives of so many people. This uplifting story celebrates the dedicated locals who immerse themselves each day in learning about and ...

What a beautiful day and way to wrap up our Living Landscapes series 🌿

Over the weekend we joined Emma Bennett from WOW Wilderness EcoAdventures to explore the incredible Nornalup Inlet by paddle, learning about the ecology, diversity and history of this special place.

Emma shared a wealth of knowledge throughout the day, helping us slow down and connect more deeply with the landscape around us. Along the way, we also collected a large pile of plastic and marine debris which we paddled back with us - a small act of care for a place that gives so much.

It was an absolutely stunning day on the water and a fitting close to the Living Landscapes series.

If you missed this one, we highly recommend checking out for future opportunities to explore the Walpole wilderness with Emma.

A big thank you to the WA Government for supporting these events, and to everyone who joined us along the way 💚

As we approach 40 years of the Denmark Environment Centre we’re inviting the community to help shape what comes next.

For four decades DEC has worked alongside the community to care for, research, educate and advocate for the natural environment of Kwoorabup / Denmark.

We’d love to hear your reflections, experiences and ideas for the future.

A memorable gathering at Kordalup / Parry Beach over the weekend. Led by Menang Noongar man Lindsay Dean, we began with an ochre and smoking ceremony grounding us in place and Noongar ways of caring for Country.

Stories shared by Belinda Dufall, Jenny Brenton and Mark Shepherd reflected on the history of the campground, beach and reserve including Parry Beach’s salmon fishing and the care that continues to shape this special coastal place.

Keen to help care for the campground and reserve? Email [email protected] to be connected with the Parry Beach Voluntary Management Committee.

Thanks to all of our speakers, and to Mez Darvill from Due South Surf Academy for leading the surf lessons, Joelie Russell for guiding the beach clean, Rhian Thomas for facilitating, and all who shared in and contributed over the weekend.

A meaningful close to our Living Landscapes surf series about building confidence in the water, deepening awareness, and taking care of our precious natural environment.

Shout out to the WA Government for supporting this event.

Join us for a special evening reflecting on the 2025 Kooryunderup / Mount Hallowell BioBlitz 🌱

We’ll be sharing key findings from last year’s event with local ecologist Melissa Howe, followed by a short film screening captured by Bart Lebbing bringing to life the people, places and discoveries from the day.

This is also a chance to come together and begin conversations about future BioBlitz events and what’s possible across different seasons.

This event is proudly supported by Lotterywest
