NOTICE TO DARWIN GAME FISHING CLUB MEMBERS - 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Emails have been sent to members, notifying that the 2026 AGM will be held at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club on Tuesday 10 November 2026 at 7.00pm, together with the Audited Financial Statement.

Committee positions up for re-election are President, Public Officer and several general Committee members.

Nomination forms were included in the email, however if you did not receive it, please contact darwingamefishingclub.com.au if you are interested in applying. Nominations close on 6 November 2026

Different targets. More fishing options?

Choosing to target different fish species is one way recreational fishers can help reduce pressure on vulnerable fish stocks. But what ideas and strategies could encourage more sustainable fishing practices, and potentially help keep more fishing options open?

That's the focus of a national research project led by the University of Western Australia and funded by the FRDC.

AFANT helped establish this as a national recreational fishing research priority in 2023 through our involvement with the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation.

Researchers are now seeking feedback from recreational fishers on different approaches to encourage voluntary changes in fishing practices.

Your views will help researchers, fisheries managers and organisations like AFANT understand which approaches could work best to support healthy fish stocks and maintain great fishing opportunities.

We had a fantastic catch-up last night, which started with Peter from Marine Safety providing some great information about when and how to let off flares and then we proceeded to the beach for a live demonstration. The diners at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club got some free entertainment.
This was followed by a really inspiring talk by club member, Rob Mitchell, who is now in his 10th year of cycling in The Great Cycle Challenge, which provides funding to fight kids' cancer. Darwin Game Fishing Club - October Catch-up
We're on again this Tuesday 6 October from 7.00pm at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club. This month we have a flare demonstration conducted by Peter from Marine Safety, so this is a good chance to bring along your expired flares for disposal.
We also have club member Rob Mitchell giving us a talk on his ongoing efforts with the Great Cycle Challenge, an amazing charity supporting children with cancer. Rob has been cycling every October for the last 10 years.

FLARE DEMONSTRATION
Have you checked the expiry date on your flares lately? Now is the time to do it, as we have a representative from Marine Safety coming to our October catch-up on Tuesday 6 October to do a flare demonstration.

You can also bring any out of date flares to the catch-up for disposal.

Join us at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club from 7.00pm.
