Trading Team is a highly selective 12-week program led by past interns and incoming graduate traders at the world’s leading quantitative-finance firms. We distil what we’ve learned at the top of the industry and pass it directly to the next cohort.

We partner with the most prestigious trading firms globally — Jane Street, Citadel Securities, Optiver, IMC, Susquehanna, and VivCourt — which offer the highest-paying internships and graduate roles in Australia and the surrounding region. More than 30 current and former members have gone on to internship or graduate offers with our partner firms, and the list grows every cohort.

No prior finance knowledge is required. We recruit for raw ability — nothing else — and teach from first principles.

Looking for a solid introduction to quantitative finance? Want to sharpen your strategic thinking? Considering a trading internship?

Applications for the Sem 1 2026 QFin Trading Team are now open! As a member, you'll participate in a semester-long mini-course covering key topics in quantitative finance, including probability, data analysis, game theory, options, and machine learning. Each week, you'll attend structured workshops led by graduate traders or past interns, where you'll explore trading concepts and engage in hands-on trading games.

Throughout the semester, you'll also work on a structured algorithmic trading project, applying the skills you’ve learned in a practical setting.

Since its inception, the Trading Team has seen tremendous success—last summer alone, 15 former members secured graduate or internship roles at top trading firms. As our sponsors, these firms recognize the value of the Trading Team and its impact on a resume.

We have limited spots available, selection for the Trading Team is based on a online assessment, as well as a single interview (held on campus). This interview helps us learn more about you, your interests, and your skills. The technical portion includes a few probability/math brain teasers and a small programming exercise to assess your familiarity with Python. You won’t need any math beyond high school level or Python knowledge beyond basic syntax—we're more interested in how you approach problem-solving with what you already know. If this sounds intimidating, don’t worry—just going through the interview is a great introduction to what you’ll experience in the Trading Team so we encourage everyone to apply!
