Our Garden Group achieved so much today at NECCHi Newlands, shovelling compost and planting a wonderful selection of winter seedlings 🌱

The garden is now home to silverbeet, pak choy, broccoli, cos lettuce and alpine strawberries, with broad beans still to come. It’s exciting to think about the harvests these seedlings will provide in the months ahead.

As always, the morning finished with tools down and a scrumptious morning tea shared together. Thank you to everyone who helped make the garden flourish today 🥬🥦🍓

This week we said goodbye to our wonderful Garden Coordinator, Mei. We are incredibly grateful for the passion, care and dedication she has brought to NECCHi and know she will be greatly missed by many in our community.

We would also like to acknowledge the amazing work of our garden group. The garden program is a valued and important part of NECCHi, and the contribution our gardeners make to creating a welcoming, productive and beautiful community space is deeply appreciated.

Sharing an event by Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal corporation

Ballert Mooroop Day 2026!

The Wurundjeri people invite you to our family-friendly celebration of the return of the Ballerrt Mooroop site to Wurundjeri custodianship.

The day will include a Wurundjeri-led panel discussion, cultural arts activities, Narrap fire truck activation and a Djirri Djirri dance workshop.

Guests can enjoy bushfood, native plants, coffee and a free halal barbecue.

This is a family-friendly event, welcoming all ages to connect with Ballerrt Mooroop and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung culture.

We hope you can join us to honour the return of Country to the Traditional Owners and recognise and celebrate the significance of Ballerrt Mooroop to First Nations people in Merri-bek.

No tickets or registration required.

Using a variety of hand building techniques over three sessions you will assemble a vase, vessel or sculpture by stacking and joining different cubes, spheres and triangles or any shape you dream of!
