Wild Hearted Parents is a 6-week circle hosted by Marisa and Felicity on the banks of the mighty Birrarung. It is a space for parents who are wanting more depth, connection and support as we navigate raising our kids in these dystopic times.

It’s a mix of Aware Parenting, listening space, and real, honest community. We will be holding a loving space for people to share the mess, the love, the overwhelm, the joy, the questions, and the big feelings (ours and theirs).

We will have a babysitter doing some nature play activities with the kiddos so that parents can drop into the sharing circle.

Hello Dear Parents,

We would love to invite you to SunSpells: a Summer Solstice gathering, on 20 December at Mycelium Studios- a blend of live music, storytelling, ritual, and community connection at Mycelium Studios. It’s a chance to slow down, and connect to what matter during this crazy time of year.

We know how much mums carry at this time of year trying to do all the things plus bring the magic for our little peeps. Our gorgeous storyteller Eloise will be weaving some meaning into these transplanted rituals and re-rooting them in the land. Powerful Yorta Yorta artist, Allara will be grounding us in music and spoken word flowing from country.

🎨 And yes, it’s completely family friendly!�We’ll have a beautiful craft + play station for kids, lovingly held by two wonderful young people who are warm, responsible and great with little ones. They’ll be drawing, crafting, chatting and keeping kids happily engaged so you can actually take a moment to exhale, listen to the music, join the storytelling circle, or simply rest with a cold ice tea. We will also have pizza to keep little bellies satiated.

SunSpells is designed to feel spacious, supportive and grounding: a little pocket of magic before the holidays.

Every year as the end-of-year rush builds, I start to register a sense of unease in my body. The strange mismatch of imported traditions, the grief and responsibility of raising children on unceded land during times of dystopic late-stage capitalism. The $6 Christmas teddies advertised on Big W billboards and the hijacking of children’s natural wonder into endless ‘I wants’. The enduring and deep well of First Nations scientific knowledge and wisdom that goes largely ignored by the dominant culture and is probably the one thing that could save us from this wreckage if we had the humility to listen.

And though I have tried for many years to reckon with these disparate pieces, I’m still far from having a sense of coherent narrative. If you have felt any of these feels at this time of year I invite you to check out my new substack article. 👇
