Castlemaine Safe Space

Castlemaine Safe Space A calm, warm and welcoming environment for anyone in emotional distress.

Father's Day is personal for us at R U OK?, and we know this weekend can be enjoyable for many people, but also tough for some.

Our late-founder Gavin Larkin started R U OK? in 2009 after his father Barry died by su***de in 1995.

As a son, brother, husband, uncle and a father himself, Gavin wanted to build a conversation movement that would resonate with all Australians, especially men.

This Father's Day, and as we approach R U OK?Day on Thursday 10 September, we encourage you to take the time to ask, ‘Are you OK?’. Because a conversation could change a life.

Many of us at Safe Space will be lighting a candle on September the 10th to remember our loved ones.

We Acknowledge all with a lived experience of su***de – those who have experienced suicidal thoughts, made an attempt on their life, cared for loved ones through crisis, or been bereaved through su***de.
We remember those we have lost to su***de and acknowledge that you matter, you always did, and you always will.
You have left footprints in our hearts and lives forever. 🕯❤

If you need some support - we are here:
74 Mostyn St, Castlemaine
Tuesdays 4:00pm-6:30pm
Thursdays 9.30am-12pm
Saturdays 1:30pm – 4:00pm

The theme of World Su***de Prevention Day is Changing the Narrative on Su***de, with the call to action: Start the Conversation.
This theme is about shifting from silence and misunderstanding to openness, empathy, and support, creating environments where people feel able to speak up and seek help.
For us at Castlemaine Safe Space, we listen and provide warmth and support.
❤We recognise that thoughts about su***de are normal and universal
❤We acknowledge all those with a lived experience of su***de.
❤We remember those we have lost to su***de - and acknowledge you matter, you always did, and you always will.

We have regular social get togethers for our dedicated volunteers. This one was at - where a fun night was had by all!
Many thanks to Genevieve Ward and Craig Gaston for donating their time to run a soul stirring (not to mention roof raising) Karaoke session for us.
And cheers to The Albion Castlemaine for providing a great venue!
