That’s a wrap! Our time spent in the Castlemaine library has come to a close, but you can still catch the maps which have found a new home at house. A huge thank to all our supporters and volunteers and to everyone that participated in sharing their hopes for a positive future for Mt Alexander Shire. As artists and community organisers we are so grateful to live and work in such an amazing place and play a tiny role in shaping our community’s future. The results of the map are currently being compiled into a public report for anyone to use. We will be sharing the report with Councillors in a formal deputation in the coming months.

It was great to sit down with three councillors (Toby, Lucas and Phillip) today to explore the map and all the contributions. took some notes of our discussion which was rich and insightful. We’re excited to present our full report to the all councillors in the near future and explore how this great repository of ideas can be utilised and supported by council moving forward.

~ we’re hoping for rain too and some celebration this weekend on Saturday 12-2pm for our closing event - a chance to hear about what’s next with the project and reflect on the amazing array of contributions that have been made to the map!

We’re so looking forward to celebrating the map and all your contributions at the closing of this amazing community mapping experiment this Saturday 12-2pm! BUT before then, we’ve got yet another opportunity to explore ideas of the future - with Paul foreman who’ll be unpacking how we might rehydrate muckleford valley - this Thursday at the library from 5-7pm. Let’s strike a better balance between humans and nature 💚

We can’t believe how many people have come and contributed to the map since we opened two weekend ago! If you haven’t had a chance to check out this interactive exhibit at the Castlemaine library foyer, then you’re in luck - Project director is running an open space (free) workshop this Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm. Calling all map nerds, community cohorts, leaders and thinkers, and young and old visionaries. Snacks provided. Link to workshop in bio
